roger threw such wide sloppy slow ass punches... even fedor did. he finally shortened one up and caught rogers on the chin... on the inside of a rogers hook.
i guess im just a boxing fan and that was like watchin a terrible golden gloves match... actually it was more like back yard boxing... and this is supposed to be the best mma guy in the world??

This isnt boxing dude...lol. In case you didnt know MMA and boxing are too different sports, put those boxers in a octagon and see what happens....

At the end of the day Fedor pulled it off......but he was out punched in the first round and was shaken up and had his nose broken early....then when he decided not to stand and punch with Rogers he went to the ground game...only to not suceed in it and found himself on the bottom of some huge bombs by Rogers... I felt if Rogers kept swinging Big John would of stopped it as he was hitting Fedor flush with a few shots while on top.
Fedor scored the flash knockdown and got the W and at the end of the day thats all that matters...but he nearly got beat by someone who isn't a top guy..... someone who Brock would beat easily in my opinion.
I love Fedor....but he would not beat Lesnar and last night any doubts I had about that were gone.

Holy **** brah, you either are a Fedor hater or just plain dumb. He got hit with 3 or 4 punches on the ground and that equals the fight almost being stopped? He was close to losing? Seriously?
Ya Fedor was so rocked and in danger by those that he immed. went for an armbar from the bottom right?
I realize the expectations for Fedor are so ridiculously high but come on. Unless he dominates every second of the fight and finishes the guy in the 1st round we hear people like you saying he is overrated or he was exposed. OMG he got punched a few times!! Same **** as after the Arlovski fight

And if Fedor had hit Rogers with the KO punch in the first 10 seconds the fight would have only been 10 seconds long? WTF are you saying, hypothetically if Roger had beat Fedor, he would have beat him, yeah, great deduction there, it means nothing, Rogers did his best against Fedor and came up lacking.

THIS
Gdammit, are you guys watching him for the first time? Fedor doesnt always dominate the whole fight. He gets hit, he's not invincible. BUT he always stays calm and finds a way to win.
That's why he's the champ.

They definitely have the conditioning and power to match any boxer. 3 five minute rounds of wrestling/stand up is EXTREMELY taxing, to the point where if you were to try even one sparring round right now you wouldn't even finish the whole round, trust me.
Plus Fedor is known for those wide punches, but trust that there's incredible power behind them. Even fighters with good boxing (like Randy C) can't let their skills fully show because at the same time they're punching someone they have to be on guard for the take down/knee/counter punch/ kick to the head. MMA and boxing have very different mind sets when approaching an opponent. You don't watch MMA to see top notch striking, you watch it to see a damn quality fight between two skilled athletes using whatever they can to pull off the win.

Fedor might lose one day, but he has been on fire for years. Even if he lost last night, I'd still have full respect for him. But he landed one of the most brutal KO's I've seen in a long time.
Look how much the OP is all over Lesnar's nuts. At least Rogers absolutely brutalized Arlovski, who I would rate as a better fighter then Mir or a 46 year old Couture.

Lulz are you serious? Fedor was definitely taking bombs to the face, but the entire time he was trying to catch an arm to go for an armbar. Fedor was aggressively trying for a sub even though he was getting hit... I don't think he was really in danger or else he'd have been trying to protect himself rather then leaving himself open while going for a sub.

Put your boxer in a cage with Fedor.....Fedor will take him down and put submissions on him he's never heard of.

i absolutley believe fedor would take a boxer in an mma fight.
but when they describe someone like rogers having a "punchers" chance... than someone who can really punch would have a better chance.
rogers had to have some power, but his strikes were so slow that fedor was able to counter to the chin with ease.

This is how much of a test I saw this fight as being for Fedor:

Rogers did a lot better on the ground than I (and a lot) of people thought he would. Some of my thoughts on the fight:
The opening jab obviously busted Fedor's nose up a bit. Fedor was definitely the aggressor and seemed to control the space better (I don't think too many people would disagree with this statement). Now for the first round highlights:
- Rogers opens with a jab that opens up Fedor's nose
- Fedor throws a quick left -> right which he immediately takes Rogers down and lands in side control
- Rogers gets up and pushes Fedor against the cage (at 4:00) Rogers holds him here till 2:59, Fedor pushes away
- Fedor lands a nice left shot to which Rogers immediately covers up, Fedor rushes in, a lot of blocked shots
- Fedor takes him down after the blocked shots, lands weak, short punches to the head, attempts a kimura
- Rogers winds up in Fedor's guard, lands 3 clean (nice) punches along with many more thrown clipping, Fedor attempts an armbar unable to finish with the cage in the way
- Fedor lands a few weak punches while Rogers is on his hands and knees
- Fedor winds up in Roger's half guard, Fedor attempts an arm triangle.
- Fedor stands up, Roger's kicks at Fedor's knee, Fedor attempts a leaping punch, winds up in Roger's guard
- Round 1 ends
Definitely the highlight of the round for Rogers, I don't feel this, the opening jab and pinning him against the cage for a minute were worthy enough to give him the round, but others may disagree, and I won't argue back, Rogers did well. Fedor had more shots landed standing, a big left that had Rogers covered up / being thrown around, two takedowns, three sub attempts, pushed the action and remained active on top (no stalling on his part). I think Rogers did very well on the ground, I question if Fedor would have gotten the armbar had he not of been pressed up against the cage, but, that's part of fighting in a cage.

the only thing fedor proved is that you can break his nose and GNP him with 5+ good punches but he will still come out of it and kick your ass. People who are questioning fedor don't understand his fighting style. He often takes a beating and looks submissive but always wins, It's just how he works. I do think the cage had an effect on fedor landing some submissions. I think he would have gotten that armbar if he wasn't pushed against the cage.

Learn a couple things about MMA... first of all when Rogers was dropping bombs Fedor was setting up the armbar, watch it again and you will see. Plus, Fedor said he was feeling Rogers out in the 1st, just like Anderson does against a lot of his opponents.
Btw, Fedor would kill Brock at this point. They just have different fighting styles and Fedor wanted to feel Rogers out in the 1st.
