He landed some great combos in the first round and took Rogers down at least twice.... what do you want ... a 5 second KO?
Fedor is probably the most impressive heavyweight in MMA history, his explosiveness, power, speed and ground game are undeniable... and hes not even a "big" heavyweight..

Either the dude's too used to can crushing boxers, or he just doesnt get it. I didn't know that a 31-1 record in mma isn't imressive....AND he finished Rogers in his own world. Beats me.

I really want to see Fedor v Lesnar. I am not saying for a second that Fedor would lose, but I would love to see how Fedor overcomes the sheer size and athleticism of Lesnar in the Octagon. I would love to see that.
However watching today's fight I think Fedor needs to practice in a cage a bit more (as opposed to a ring).

until he proves wrong, I think it's just unwise to bet against Fedor.

That's the thing....it's not. Well not in the traditional way. What makes him great is he refuses to attack his opponents weaknesses and plays right into their strengths.
Everyone knew Rogers only chance to win was to take Fedor's head off in the standup...and Fedor stood with him and KO'd.
What you can say is that he has an awesome ability to find an opening in his opponents strength. So essentially a weakness in a strength lol.

Isn't Rogers about the same size as Brock?
But yes I think Brock's size and athleticism + wrestling knowledge would give Fedor a hell of a fight...if it got down to the ground that is. If the fight stays on the feet Lesnar has no shot.

Right now for me it's Anderson Silva with the way he's dominated top fighters for so long.

you mean the bit where he stayed calm whith brett rogers pounding down on him? the bit where been splattered in his own blood with a blocked nose didnt bother him? what's so impressive about him is how cool is he through anything, he's just ridiculously good at fighting. when fedor was hitting brett, he seemed to panick, now watch when brett hits fedor, not a problem, take a step back, lets try again.

i would take rodgers over brock.. sorry brock is untested in so many ways.. rodgers has a hell of a chin, and decent ground game. almost as big, and a better striker than brock.. but sorry roders doesn't train WWE.

Tyson would be limbless and I don't think Machida would do a great deal better. Lesnar would have a good chance, but he'd need to regain that size and strength... Silva would have a VERY good chance imo. I'd actually be surprised if Fedor won. Imo Overeem is Fedor's next loss.

A cut loss is still a loss... It's a sport. Overeem definitely juices. Brock would need some Overeem pills and the cage.

At the end of the day it is really irrelevant what we all think of him as a fighter. The people who know him best, his peers and opponents all agree that he is the best. I personal dont think he will lose, a weakness he has in one fight isnt there in the next, the positions he put himself in against Rogers he wont put himself in against a different styled opponent, that is why in my opinion he is the best. His style is like water, it flows through anything.

Agreed... This sport has signifigant rules and regulations... HOWEVER if fedor were to encounter a professional boxer on the street do you really think Fedor is going to follow rules and proticaol of the cage or ring??? HA no...

if it wasn't in the tournament fedor would have have won via DQ, and tbh overeem vs fedor is the only fight i worry about fedor losing. he's a beast with skill.. to bad he juices, but that would also make overeem vs lesnar fair.. and lesnar would be totaly outclassed.

Lesnar, Silva and Machida would all be good fights. Especially Lesnar, imo Lesnar could beat Fedor. But Fedor would still be considered the favorite.
Prime Tyson was a one dimensional fighter, he would have very little chance.
|
honestly, the only way Lesnar would win is if Fedor wasnt able to get an arm bar on him, which as we have seen, is something that Lesnar would have an issue with. i think if there wasnt a sub, it would go the distance, neither getting ko'd. but who knows.

A cut is a loss but not a defeat. HUGE difference, Fedor was not beaten, he was cut by an illegal blow, refs/doctors would not LET him continue. At no point was he beaten, he was not submitted, he was not KO'd and he did not lose to a decision.

That cut wasn't a real loss. It was an illegal elbow, and because of the tournament it was a loss. If anything it should have been a NC like in the second Nog fight. It's not like he was beat up or anything. If you really want to see a justified doctor stoppage watch the rematch of Fedor/Koshaka. Fedor could have ended that fight at any time, but he lumped Kohsaka up bad for ten minutes.
