Bruising?
Each time I do a good leg work out with weights I get bruising around my knees. A couple dime size bruises that hurt like normal bruises when touched and take about a week to go away. I was wondering if anyone else had this, or if I was odd?

Hmm I have a couple around my knees right now but idk if they came from lifting or not. I play rough, so I'm never sure where my bruises come from. Anyway, I'm gonna keep an eye on them and on this thread.

Thanks for your response.
This came up because I asked my DR about them it incase maybe I was hurting my joints or something, and she started talking about bleeding disorders, blood disorders, and tons of testing... So I was wondering if a few dime size bruises was really something to think about getting these tests, or if it was just normal for weight lifters to get bruises around joints after a good work out.

sorry to intrude in the womens section, it could just be burst blood vessles (which a bruise is) so it could be due to a dissorder however a little thing like a couple of bruises after leg day is not a definite sign and unless you are worried or u get other problems i wouldnt see the need to get tested, hope this kinda helps

My brothers and I used to get these when playing sports, our doctor told us to take 1 or 2 multi-vitamins a day, he said many times bruises were a sign of a vitamin deficiency. sure enough, we stopped getting them unless we got our butts kicked in a game or whatever.

I've noticed a few bruises around my knees also after leg day. But was unsure if the cause of them was the workout the day prior, or if I bumped my knee somewhere and didn't remember. And lately, I've started to notice on days when I train upper body, I get broken capillaries on my shoulders....I'm wondering if that could be due to heavy lifting also.

Thank you for your responses.
I have increased my vitamin intake and other than that I am not going to worry about it. A few people I know have had to have knee surgeries, some more than others, so the knees were my worry. The DR had no worries about that and I don't see that I bruise much in generall other than those little things, so I shall just be better at taking my vitamins and call it good.
Thanks all.
