Fasted morning workouts
Due to my hectic school schedule and obligations, the only consistent time that I have for training is first thing in the morning. I would like some opinions on fasted training. I would not be able to eat before these workouts because I am one of those people that needs at least 2 hours after eating before training to avoid nausea. Since I would be waking up at 4:20am to train, there is no time for food. Please let me know your opinions. I would love to hear what you think. Thanks.

I don't eat before I train in early in the morning. A lot of people disagree on this subject and many do eat a preworkout meal, but like you, I cannot stomach food immediately before a workout in the morning. I don't like burping up food while working out..eww!

Ali,
My exact problem and sometimes 2 hours is not enough.
I usually do cardio on an empty stomach (1 hr.)
Then have one bite of a protien bar (chew it to heck) and then go lift.
When the lifting is done, or nearly done, I pop open a protein drink (12 oz) which I usually drink on the drive home.
Then off to make some breakfast.
Coffee however, has no negative effects on my stomach. So I start with a 16 oz cup on the way to the gym and usually bring a 16 oz refill. All fortified with Creatine.
The Creatine really has helped with my ability to do high rep lifts.
Good luck.

I don't recommend you train fasted. You could have a protein shake prior to training. I weight train at 3:30 and have a shake and a small piece of fruit pre-workout.
Good luck!

I am not a morning person at all and get up at 530 to do my workout. I normally workout fasted, the only thing I have before I go is a cup of coffee with creatine. Occasionally if I'm absolutely starving I'll have some dried apple crisps on my way to the gym. For some reason dehydrated apples don't make me nautious or icky food tasting burpy.

I am also a morning person...4 AM. I can't stomach food either especially before cardio sessions. I usually drink water with Xtend mixed in that has set in the fridge overnight. My stomach usually isn't grumbling so I'm fine. If it does grumble I will grab a 1/2 PB sandwhich or stringe cheese of a handful of crackers. I've tried working out later in the day but with food in my stomach it feels like a dead weight and I can't get moving!

Thanks everyone. I did train this morning (fasted) I don't think I preformed any less than normal. I did have my trusty and delicious Blue Razz Extend with me though :-) I think I will continue to do this. It really seems to be the best for me. And that's what it's all about. Right?
