A lot will depend on who your boss is, but when I worked there I had a great supervisor and it was alright.
Positives: Substantial discount, and if it's like the one I worked at, free stuff when things get near expiration or come in damaged packaging... or sometimes just random free sh!t if your boss is nice.
Negatives: Customer service. FUUUUUUUUUU!!!!!! Some guy came in in a rage over the fact that the stuff that supposedly makes your urine clean for a UA didn't work, and he didn't get a job because of it (yeah, it wasn't because he did drugs in the first place ) The packaging said to contact the maker for a triple refund if it failed, but he was demanding that I give him 3x his money back. Then there's the daily influx of complete idiots.
Pay was decent for the work I did.

pros: chatting with the some of the cool customers (ones that lift). Pay can be good if you work at a high volume store. Discounts are good and sometimes free supps if your boss if cool. Mine isn't
cons: meeting sales goals and hustling customers so you can reach vitamin/gold card sales. Dealing with stupid people that expect you to know about every product and listening to them not even be able to describe what its supposed to do.

I know first hand.
Positives:
-Making decent money if you are younger (still in school)
-Strong Discounts
-You get all the expired supplements or returns for free
-You get to meet some cool people / good customer interaction.
-Free time when no one is in the store, you can do what you want misc. all day etc.
Negatives:
-Being pressured to sell certain items that have a higher margin.
-These items might or might not be the best options in the store.

Commission depends on there store you work at and even more so if you work for a Corporate owned or Private Owned Franchise.

IIRC, I only got commission on selling cards. Privately owned store - I was the only non-family employee.
