How do you guys keep from pigging out?
I wouldn't really call this pigging out but..
I did excellent on my .."diet" yesterday.
Today, there was a local fire department sponsored BBQ, I had grilled chicken, BBQ spread pork, and a biscuit. And I'm not talking just a little amount of it either. I just didn't want to not eat it when it was presented to me. How do you guys fight this?
Also, any support in my workout log would be greatly appreciated.

Next time you have something like that coming up try eating something light before you go there so you start off somewhat full.

You knew you were going there, right? Why not work it in your diet that day?
Nothing wrong with a couple pieces of grilled chicken or BBQ pork if it isn't covered in sauce.
When I'm at one of these events I concentrate on what I can eat and avoid what is not okay... I'd choose a couple pieces of chicken breast and skip everything else.
Just choose the best, ignore the rest!

My desire to keep looking as good as I now do is greater than my desire for eating crap. It's a bigger reward than any food could ever be.

Drink a lot of water before and while you eat. This will fill you up fast and kind of fool your body into thinking you filled up on the good stuff! at least it works for me.
Also what others said, theres almost something semi-good you can eat at those and plan it into your day and you will be fine.
Just FYI, I ate 8 pieces of pizza at a buffet 2 days ago and I didn't blow up or anything, it will be ok!!

mind over matter..but i honestly think it's probably not too good to desire a food so much that you go nuts thinking about it, that's probably not healthy..on the other hand, it's annoying cause at the same time you need to have a certain willpower...

Seeing progress motivates me enough to not pig out.
Every once in a while, I will get a craving for some hot juicy food, and instead of going and clogging my arteries with fast food, I'll go and get a lemon-pepper whole roasted chicken from the local grocer. It'll last me three servings easily, it's delicious, packed with protein, no carbs, and it really hits the spot for me.

keep a food log, and lets say you know youre gonna wanna pig out or something, or end up eating an unhealthy meal later in the day, add it to your food log before you eat anything, and then build your meals around it

you have to pick and choose occasions, every once and a while if you go out for an important function and you dont lose for that week or only lose 1 lbs instead of two, thats normal and you shoudln't feel bad about it. but you do have to pick and choose cause you cant have something come up every weekend.

I ask myself "But who was discipline?"
On a serious note, I eat home-prepared food whenever I can, but if there is a social gathering at which I absolutely have to eat, I only drink protein shakes throughout the day to make some room for the additional calories. I still guesstimate the macros I have eaten after.

The best way for me to stay in control is to allow myself to eat more on certain days, and not worry about total calories that day. If you are too rigid in your eating habits, it will backfire on you sooner or later. If there is a special event on something, just let that day be your cheat day.

^^^ This.
Seriously, when I started my cut it was difficult to overcome the cravings for my beloved junk food. But as the weeks went by and I saw the progress I was making, all of a sudden that pizza didn't look quite as good as it used to.
Ever hear the saying "Nothing tastes as good as being thin feels"? That's SOOOO true!

I binge on fruits, I can't resist, my bad one day I ate 3kg of raisin (my max on a ~5h span, ~2400kcal, 0.99e/kg offer is finally over!) ... or easily 1kg of apples (540kcal) + 1kg of banana (900kcal) on a day ... sometimes I need carbs but I haven't eaten pizza/fries/hamburger in months (no craving though, strange)
I think it could be much worse if that was pizza or junk food as I really need big quantities to fill my stomach! And apple (for example granny smith) + water = quickly full, can't eat no moar!
Back to a standard diet week ...

Same with me! This time of year and all the good food floating around makes it very hard for me to stay on my diet. All I can manage to do right now is maintain.

Pigging out isn't necessarily a bad thing every once in a while. Just make that barbecue your cheat meal for the week.

Just eat as much food as you can hold without puking and you will stop pigging out, at least temporarily.

I always eat a ton before I go out or bring my food. But since most of my friends (or other people) aren't very health aware or would look at me weird, I usually just eat a ton beforehand and bring a little bit of fruit to hold me over if I get hungry.
Even if food is presented to you, you have to learn to say no. Or just use the excuse, "I'm not hungry."
I just went to a BBQ restaurant a few weekends ago with my friends and didn't eat anything but a few nibbles on the fries.
I just told them I wasn't hungry because I had just eaten and I was left alone.
Also I'd like to add, if you know in advance you have something planned (like a party or going out to dinner) the day before, eat less, so that the following day you can eat more.
It's like calorie zigzagging. At the end of the week, you still eat the same amount of calories, but you just eat more or less on different days.
A lot of times I'll eat 1200-1300 calories on Friday so that I can eat 2400-2500 on Saturday and still be in a defecit. If you want Sunday to eat more too, just eat less on Monday or something like that.

If I know im going to be eating bad, like for example, every wednesday my friends like to go watch the hockey game and eat deep fried wings. Well I can enter those into fitday, if I cant enter it into fitday, ill eat it with moderation, usually it will contain fat in it, so than I dont eat my almonds for that day.
My brother came up to visit and I ordered a medium pizza, that was just so cheesy it made me sick, I could finish the last slice(1/5). After a while of chit chat/hockey game, we order nachos and I gulfed that ****, i love nachos. I didnt eat my almonds that day, and drank a lot of water the next day to compensate for the sodium. I still lost 2.5lbs that week.
Its aight to have a couple pork/chicken sandwiches 1 day of the week, just not every other day.
If you eat really good in one day, do you lose a pound? no. If you eat really bad in one day, do you gain a pound? no. We gained/lost weight overtime, not overnight.
Why are my responses always so long, prob only need to read the last 3 sentences.
