Peanut Butter and Jam or Jelly?
Yesterday I heard 2 different people within an hour use the term peanut butter and jam instead of peanut butter and jelly.
I have never heard this before and thought it was odd.

jelly is is kinda gelatinous w/no actual fruit pieces in it while jam is made from actual pieces of fruit mashed up together... something like that.

Of course there is a difference between jelly and jam. Its just the phrase struck me as odd.
I also talked to a 35 year old woman with a family and seemed normal enough but had never seen a James Bond movie. Now thats odd.

true.... even when I've used jam instead of jelly, I still called it peanut butter and jelly.

No matter what I use (jelly, jam, preserves) I call it "peanut butter and jelly".
I actually didn't know the difference between jelly/jam/preserves until my wife taught me - when I bought the wrong thing at the store.

It's gotta be either grape jelly or strawberry jam. Both are good.

I like jam, it spreads easier than jelly...I would phrase it peanut butter and jelly even if using jam...

Life is too short; we are all but blinks of an eye compared to the limitlessness of space and time so to end this thread in the right fashion, it is "peanut butter and JAM."
Accept no substitutes.

My kids only want peanut butter and honey. And they call it that - a peanut butter and honey sandwich. (Which also rocks).

Peanut butter and banana is great, but peanut butter and pickles of any kind is a prosecutable crime against nature. (Not that I've ever had one.)

I'm a peanut butter purist - gimme bread with peanut butter on it, any fancy stuff and someone's looking for trouble.
Other members of my family will put butter or margarine on the bread first ... eewwww! It's enough to make me wanna hurl just thinking about it. I'm pretty sure they were all adopted.

Or maybe you were adopted...and that margarine or butter on the bread first IS the norm and YOU are the outsider. Think about that little concept often enough and it'll drive ya crazy! (I feel a "Twilight Zone" moment coming on...)
Seriously, I agree. Peanut butter should and, for me, MUST be eaten on bread with and ONLY with (if necessary) JAM. No pickles, hold the lettuce, jelly just upsets us...PB and JAM.
Period.

I'll have to say I do prefer it on toast - as it melts and becomes a bit runny.. slurp!
