If published reports are accurate, Barack Obama’s presidency is effectively over. Strong words? Ask yourself this: what other president of the United States would have spent almost three minutes speaking at the Dept. of Interior before getting around to mentioning the fact that twelve soldiers had been killed, and thirty one wounded in a massacre at Fort Hood in Texas?
This kind of insensitivity is both infuriating and disturbing. Infuriating because reinforces the notion that we have a president whose narcissistic self-involvement borders on pathological. What in the world could have been more important than mentioning an American tragedy prior to the business at hand? Disturbing because it demonstrates a cluelessness one would think was impossible for the Commander-in-Chief of the United States military.
Doubtless his supporters and a comatose media will attempt to give him a free pass–or try to find an equally feckless mistake committed by George W. Bush to “balance the scales.”
It won’t fly.
Last week, president Obama posed for a picture with the caskets of 18 dead soldiers and DEA agents returning from Afghanistan–ostensibly to honor the ultimate sacrifice these Americans made to keep us all safe from terror. I say ostensibly, because one week later, taken in context with this monumental gaffe, one could be forgiven for concluding that Obama’s real motive then had far less to do with those honoring those Americans than burnishing his own image as a president who “truly cares” about the troops.
What a difference a week makes.
America has had other presidents whose relationship with our fighting forces has been less than stellar. But I don’t believe we’ve ever had a president for whom common decency, and a basic, even if grudging, respect for the military has proved utterly elusive.
His support among Americans has been slowly eroding. If this story gets the media coverage it deserves–a fifty-fifty chance at best–it will implode.
Ironically, in keeping with his narcissistic nature, he’s got no one but himself to blame.
-----------------
Also, check out what Michelle wore to SFC Jared C. Monti's Posthumous Medal Of Honor ceremony...
Festive, huh..?

Editorial Reviews
From Publishers Weekly
Women serving in the armed forces deserve their nation's thanks, law professor Browne announces in his first paragraph, quickly adding that they are unfit to be soldiers. To support his argument, Browne presents an avalanche of intriguing psychological and military studies that examine male-female differences. He points to evidence that men are generally better able to carry the necessary gear, and that although even noncombatant women must be prepared to fight hand-to-hand, they are generally more cautious: we would rather solve the situation; if somebody has to die, then nobody really wins, explains one. Men have superior hand-eye coordination and situational awareness as well as a greater willingness to take risks and function better in hierarchies, he says. Women are more democratic and tend to resent taking orders, especially from other women, but overwhelmingly oppose complete equality (e.g., being assigned combat roles involuntarily on the same basis as men). Since Browne makes no secret of his opinion and is a lawyer, readers may suspect they are hearing only one side of the case. Still, the question of how women should be treated within the military is timely. (Nov. 1)

ok I really didn't read the whole thing, but whatever your problem is with me, could you please just leave me alone? I've asked you nicely, but I really don't need your harassment if I want to post here. Please, just put me on ignore or something. I haven't done anything to warrant your immature behavior. and normally I'd just "lol" - but coming from you, I just don't want to hear it, b/c you insist on responding to every one of my posts with something insulting, when I'm nothing but nice to everyone here.
Thanks,
spitt

During my teenage years i had to battle with cancer (twice), which completely change my body appereance. Now 10 years later, I have to battle with the side effects from the radiation I was given to cure the cancer. The latest news I was given was that i wouldn't be able to eat by mouth for the rest of my life. It appears that the food won't go to my stomach but to my lungs putting me in danger of obtaining pneumonias and a bunch of other diseases. As of February of 2008 I have been eating through a feeding tube that was put on my stomach after been hospitalized for a couple of weeks. As hard as it is for me to say this, "it seems like there's always a light at the end of the tunnel". This particular tube has been my light in a way because now I weight more than i ever had ever since my sickness, and with the permission of my doctors i have been allowed to start lifting weights. SO this is my chance to finally to TRANSFORM MY BODY and look somewhat NORMAL once again

thanks brahs.

meh. women can pilot or drive as well as a man. they just aren't cut out for SF and infantry, but neither are most men. myself included =/ since most of the military is not composed of trigger pullers i think it would be hard to argue against having women serving.
vietnam has a long history of women serving in combat and i think there is a role for them in our force as well.

I thought you and the high speed dude were engaged, or was that a joke?
Has for women in the military, I dont have any issues. Some suck, but so do some men.

They think that because they have an SF combat patch on their right shoulder they're better than everyone else. It's not all of them but there are some pretty arrogant ones in the bunch.
It's mostly the enlisted ones though, we were doing SRP and all the 19th o3-o5 types were real good.

lmao, I had that same problem with my first MP company. They had deployed as SF's gate guards, so they got the patch, and rubbed it in everyones face.
This is mostly why I refuse to wear it as my combat patch. I'll just wear MNF-I, or SOCOM instead.
