Stairmill: 6 minutes and my hip went berserk I stretched and tried again but had to get off after 3 mins. I guess I surrender the stairmill back to Mo until the damm hip gets its mechanics back in order.
Elliptical: yawn... 35 mins - intervals.
Then I ran into my friend and trainer. She is competing at tomorrow's Serious About Fitness model search in Ottawa. She was in a great mood and it was contagious! I can't wait to see her and all the athletes at the event and the Eastern Ontario OPA Championship. Very sad that I can't compete at Level 2. But I'll be helping hand out and organize the trophies so that will be a blast ! Glad to be involved. It will certainly motivate me to bring it for the spring comps.
Have a great weekend all... and all best wishes to those of you who are competing this weekend either in Ottawa or Toronto or anywhere else!!

X2! So many people competing today! It's too much for my little brain to handle! I have SO many logs to check! After my leg workout, Im not leaving the house (except for tonight's OPA night show) until I know ALL the results!!

Great! Hopefully I'll run into you so you can update me on our Toronto results. PS: your brain is not little - it must be at least as big as those muscles of yours!!

I will have my camera with me. I'll do my best to get good pics! Ottawa athletes can't be that much different than Toronto! But different comps, different judges = different results in what they're looking for.

Got in a workout this morning in a desperate attempt to get my arms and shoulders to pop for tonight's event. I'm abit too late but it don't matter. I feel energized ! (And yes, I realize I'm obsessed! I'm not competing! Duh!!)
Hip is bothering cause of yesterday's stair mill. But I ignored it. LOL
Warm-up: 15 mins on elliptical
Circuit type workout x 3 with 5 min run on treadmill in between.
Cable biceps pulls, side shoulder raises, bent over shoulder raises, front raises.
BB bicep curls, front lat raises, overhead presses
DB side raises, seated military raises, hammer curls
Finished off with 15 minute run on treadmill.
And now, I'd better get off the computer and in the shower. SAF starts at 2 pm.

My transition from Figure girl to Trophy girl... LOL
Had a BLAST at yesterday's OPA Eastern Ontario Championship. So fun to see the competitors and to be part of the volunteer team. What an awesome group of people - the competitors, the production team and the judges. I was so happy to be part of the whole thing and yes I can't wait to compete again soon! But to be honest, I almost had more fun helping out backstage! I would certainly do it again
I posted some photos on facebook. Check them out: http://www.facebook.com/ambrugger
I got home very late and stayed up for a while cause I was so hyped. Went to sleep around 2 am. So today is a rest day! Gonna cook up a roast beast and serve it up with an California red !

Thanks hun! I really hope to compete again in the Spring. Not sure when or where. Will want to do my Level 2 OPA and maybe IDFA. It seems like a good org. Also UFE seems like fun. Hopefully, I'll be able to get more serious on the legs soon. Would like to get uber serious in January. That will give me about 4 months to prep.

OK... posting pics on this forum is not my forte. I finally got a photobucket account, so this should work!! Let's give it a try. I didn't get much pics of figure. I was pretty busy backstage trying not to screw up the trophies and medals. I only took a few pics.
me, Jason Green: overall champ, Kari

Kari, Ricardo Gardiner: masters, Level 2 champ, me

I believe this was the middle weight pose down... but it might be hw. Can't remember.

Jason Green getting his award

Trophy wranglers, Kari and I

Level 1 Serious About Fitness Model search. Competition took place during mid day. Lots of fun to watch!

Elite SAF model search - Vanda Hadarean, my awesome trainer and 4 time Ms World Fitness and Olympian gymnast.

Rehab in the gym. I worked far too long yesterday without a lunch break. But it's just so busy these days and I can't afford to be absent. Gotta get back on that work horse and in the fast lane. My back was exhausted by end of day. Really felt it on the drive home.
But today is a new day and I am working on strengthening my core, abs and lower back.
Day started with a 20 min run with doggy around 7 am followed by toast and coffee.
In the gym by 9 am doing abit of leg work - Yay!
Cardio: 42 mins on elliptical
Stretches and abs (very small isolated movements to engage lower transversal)
Standing Cable glute lifts - not too heavy, just trying to engage multifidis in lower back. 2 sets at 10 lbs
Bicep cable curls: 2 sets of 12x30 lbs
ss/ Tricep rope pull down: 2 sets of 12x30 lbs
Standing single ham curls: 2 sets of 12x30 lbs (light but effective)
ss/ single leg extensions: 2 sets of 10x40 lbs
DB hammer curls: 10x20lbs; 10x22.5 lbs
Standing single calves lifts: 2x15x25 lbs
Cool down with 5 mins on treadmill.
That's it ! Then I headed to local supplement store, bought some protein pwdr and got a loot bag! Tons of samples in it. Fun times!

Mah back is a killin me today! I'm pretty sure it's cause I vaccumed yesterday. Such an evil task ! tsk tsk.. That's the story I told hubby, and I'm stickin with it! LOL
I was feeling awful but needed to move, so I did a "hybrid training" session in my basement as suggested by Hameed. It was fun.
I did this 4 times with virtually no rest either between sets or between reps.
Shoulder side raises: 25 x 5 lbs
Shoulder front raises: 25 x 5 lbs
Shoulder standing db presses: 25 x 10 lbs
Hammer curls: 25 x 15 lbs
Squats (2 sets with stab ball in back; 2 sets without): 25 x 0; 25 x 10 lbs db
burn burn burn... I admit I faulted on reps a couple of times near the end. But it was good. Took me about half an hour and at least I felt like I did something.
I feel like a dweeb because the weights are so light. Honestly, I'm so weak. But I'm still being careful. I really need to get myself together soon and back on serious track. I feel gross, tired, over weight, pudgy, not in control. So so far from where I was 4 months ago. ughhhh

I'm glad you tried it out Anne. How did you like it compared to running or some other form of the usual cardio?
Here is an article you can read to get more insight into this more effective method of training - http://leanhybridmuscle.com/access/ . Don't be put off by all the "jacked" guys on the page. It's just as applicable for females - burn fat and increased muscle tone for females.
Just be consistent with your work outs and I'm sure you'll do fine.

Thanks H, I did like it. Certainly in terms of it not taking too long! It reminded me alot of the Bodypump class I used to take. I quite enjoyed that. I think I will do it again maybe on a regular basis. However, I do like finding a good rhythm on a treadmill with some good tunes in the ear buds!

Hit the gym this morning at 9:30. I feel better now. Nothing like a good workout to clear the mind and make the body feel more relaxed and content.
w.u.: 23 mins on eliptical
Wide grip pull ups: 2 x 6 x 25 lbs (I used to do them with BW only, but can't anymore.. will keep trying).
Standing cable glute pulls: 2 x 12 x 10 lbs
Cable chest cross overs: 1 x 12 x 25; 2 x 10 x 30
ss/ seated lat pull downs: 1 x 12 x 50; 2 x 10 x 60
HS chest press, flat: 1 x 10 x 30; HS chest press, decline: 1 x 10 x 30
ss/ HS back rows: 2 x 10 x 30
Hack squats on Freemotion (with lots of shoulder cushions!): 2 x 15 x 50
I tried to do some seated leg presses but could not accomplish this at all. It put all the weight directly on my lower back. Glad the hack squats worked. I'll add more weight next time.
Finished up with 18 minutes on the treadmill with some great podrunner beats blasting in my ears.

Ugh my day job is killah on the back! I'm supposed to be working half days and so far all my days have been well over 8 hours. I haven't been breaking for lunch because I keep thinking I'm leaving early. I got home on Monday, fell asleep in front of the tv. Woke up and went to bed until the next day! Didn't bother trying to workout when so tired.
But enough whining! I got a workout in early this morning, when my energy is much higher and fresher. I figured that would be a great way to start another busy day. Good decision.
Shoulders:
Cardio: 15 mins on the stepper. It really pumped up my quads! Bothered my knees/hips a bit, but not too bad.
2 circuits, no rest, with a 6 minute run on treadmill in between.
Cable glute lifts 15 x 10 lbs
Cable side raises 12 x 10; 10 x 12.5
Cable front raises 10 x 10; 10 x 12.5
Cable bent over rear delt lifts: 10 x 10; 10 x 12.5
Seated db military press: 12 x 15; 12 x 17.5
Side db lifts: 15 x 7.5; 10 x 15; 5 x 17.5
Hammer bicep curls: 10x15; 8x20
Finished off with 10 mins on elliptical
Great, quick, high intensity workout. Kept the heart rate up through the whole workout - just over one hour.
No workout tomorrow cause no time. I gotta get these back spasms under control.
But all is good. Getting ready to set some long term goals. Soon I hope!!

I love quick WO's like that! Get in and get out! That way your body doesn't know what hit it, until later
What's for dinner?..lol I know your Thanksgiving already happened, but what did you cook for it? Just curious- I love talking food..lol

Hey ya I bet you're in the mood for food after the big competition! Canadian thanksgiving was a while back but I believe we went for traditional turkey. My son likes it. I found a small one and brined it before cooking. It was tender and yummy... and just a little salty...LOL Oh and I actually made gravy! Again, it was for the boys. My gravy is awesome - but I never touch the stuff. Well ok I guess I had to taste it. The teenager was in charge of the stuffing and we made cranberry sauce with Calvados! I used it as jam for the rest of the week. Great with PB.
Now I need to STOP talking about food. haha! Congrats on your big weekend, Phil.

Awesome workout this morning. Not at work today. YAY !!! Time to recover from insane week and pay attention to my rehab !
warm-up: 18 mins on stepper... good sweat, but painful hip
Squats!! YES Smith Squats!! First time since July!! WOOO I was very careful
3 x 10 x 70 lbs (weakling LOL)
Standing single ham curls: 3 x 10 x 40 lbs
Single leg extentions: 2 x 10 x 40; 1 x 10 x 50
Standing glutes cable pulls: 2 x 12 x 10lbs
Bicep and tricep cable pulls - I just can't go to the gym and not work the biceps!!
Back extensions 1 x 15 x 0 - very small movements. Very careful
Abs - some abs on ball. I'm weak in the abs. I was shaking. Gotta get stronger soon.
Cool down: 23 mins on elliptical.
All this followed by massage therapy. Seems I am getting better. However, I'm going to see a real doctor about the hip problem. It's just not normal and I don't think physio's gonna fix it.
or... if I ignore long enough it may go away.
Happy Friday all !!

What did you do for abs?
I can give you GREAT spine stabilization exercises that'll help strengthen your core and NOT injure you more than traditional crunches on the ball...
