-First time ever even putting 275 on the bar and I rocked it, REALLY happy with my first week on the chest/back focused split. Big deadlift and bb bench PR, not to mention great hyper workouts as well.
-Last sunday (day before i started this new 4-day split) I was talking with Ant (ItalianPlaya). He told me that on this split he kills himself every day and by friday afternoon he feels like he has been hit by a truck and really need both sat/sun to recover. I kept this in mind all week and really pushed it every day on every exercise. 100% focus even on stuff like v-bar pressdowns or db curls.

Hahaha YES! I dont know about Old Glory's lunch menu, but dinner was awesome. Get the triple combo of bbq chicken, ribs, and beef brisket with side of potato and baked beans.

Thanks that muffin/cake was pretty good, I normally dont like sweet things. If I'm going to eat "junk" I usually prefer greasy stuff like burgers, wings, pizza.
chest/back MUST grow!
law school:
-just spent 53 minutes writing 1 sentence. Granted it is the most important sentence in the assignment, but wow that took forever. To come up with the perfect phraseology for the sentence, I stopped trying to write and started trying to argue. I forced myself to turn away from the computer, went into my bathroom, looked at myself in the mirror, and pretended I was arguing to a judge. If you can explain something orally you can always explain it in written form

I remember writing my thesis paper for my senior year of high school and the whole argument of the paper was based on the thesis statement. It's all about properly phrasing it.

Damn, can't even imagine the focus that needs to be there to spend 53 minutes on one sentence.

about the pec issue... literally every issue I've had has been on the flat bench
honestly flat bench sucks for chest development anyway and you'd be surprised how many pros would agree with me
as sporto said in another thread, flat bench done with proper form is really a tricep and shoulder exercise

actually this was the answer I was hoping to hear! Because I feel zero pec pain on bb flat bench, I feel the pain kind of when I start the negative on db incline. (although i guess its possible that flat bench is causing the problem and i dont feel the pain until i do db incline).
but it really isnt that bad pain at all, just something I noticed. minor pain.

law school, this summer, and pineapples
law school/summer
-little over 4 weeks out from exams. Going to have to step up my studying game even more. Outlining for finals takes FOREVER, not just because of the amount of information but because of the complexity. In order to effectively outline, you dont just take all your notes from the semester and plop them into a big outline; rather, you have to analyze the material and extract overarching principles that can be explained by the cases you read and applied to new situations you encounter
- summer --> My primary goal is to secure a judicial internship. These are generally considered the most prestigious and worthwhile position a law student can secure following their first year. You work 1 on 1 with a judge and have significant impact on the outcome of the cases. Obviously there are a million judges out there and i could find a judicial internship without much difficult, but the most prestigious internships are with federal judges in DC. I will try for the DC federal internship.
pineapples
-I think i saw on discovery channel or something one time that pineapples contain an enzyme that aids in digestion and helps when you are eating a ton of cals (i.e. bulking). Recommendation was like 1 tablespoon of pineapple with every meal.
- so i got some dole canned pineapple chunks and i'm going to eat a few with every meal for the next few days and see if i digest my food easier and get more energy out of my meals. Right now i digest my food fine i just feel like its digesting too slowly and as a result im not too hungry when its time for my next meal. i'm around 4200 cals right now.

notes
-I like starting a hypertrophy focused back day with wg pulldowns, really gets my lats going and although it fatigues my lats a bit I think i get more out of my subsequent rows/pullups
-went high rep on bb rows today, kept form super strict. Next week i'll loosen up form and go for a pr of 335 x 6
-for t-bar rows, we have one of those "machines" that is basically just a platform you stand on with the end of the t-bar attached. It feels exactly like doing t-bar rows in the corner, only downside is that it only holds 6 plates. It was cool to "max out" the t-bar machine though haha

Me too man, at least the one I've tried in my gym. My issue is that the top half of the rep I feel like the bar wants to come in closer to my waist than I'd like. As in, the thing is rotating on in a smaller angle if that makes sense. Just doesn't feel right!

I really dislike T-bar rows... I have pretty long arms and still it's about a 4 inch ROM at best LOL.
I'll do them occasionally with a bunch of 25s but T-bar grip cable rows are way superior IMO.

i'll hit seated cable rows on thursday in my second back workout. Only problem with them is that sometimes i feel them too much in my biceps, even if i use straps + thumbless grip. Just the way you are seated forces you to bring your elbows back making your upper arm perpendicular to your lower arm like an L.
when you do seated cable rows, do you sit up straight with an arch in your back the whole time or do you do them like Arnold where you let your back round at the "top" of the rep (i.e. when handle is closer to weight stack)? I feel like i get a better stretch when I let my back round at the bottom. of course I arch my back when I'm pulling the handle towards me

trap soreness
So I was a little disappointed that I only hit 3 x 3 with 425 on bb shrugs yesterday, as I was hoping for 5 reps but my traps kept giving out after just 3 reps. I still had a pretty good trap pump though. Well....this morning I wake up and my traps are completely done, never been this sore in my life. It actually hurts to twist my head to look to the left or right. I mean my entire back is sore but wow traps are done. Heavy Shrugs FTW

LOL!
This is actually my last semester of accounting / law and one properly argued paragraph always take me 3-5 hours to write --> i'd argue one way, find my cases, look at counter cases, change my mind and it would be a cycle of confusion and indecisiveness haha. And my god i hear you on the outlining..
It was fun but.. good luck with exams and the internship!

notes
-didnt take any sets to failure today since I have my heavier chest day coming up on friday.
- 100 rep challenge on leg press calf raise was tough:
just do as many sets as it takes to get to 100 reps, but here is the kicker...only 5 second rest between sets.

Not some bad shrugs man, not bad at all. I know it generally takes a pretty strenous workout for my traps to get sore.
