Christmas Wish List
Okay guys, I am putting together a wish list for gifts I want (for parents). I'm always after new things for training and such. Here is what I have:
Zhang Gong competition barbell, IWF certified
Mavrik set of kg bumper training plates and metals
spring collars
cheap squat stand, bodysolid
1 ea 16 kg kettlebell
platform
home made jerk boxes
pull-up/dip station
I am looking for ideas any of you might have as to what to add to this. Thanks, and keep in mind that I do like the occasional crossfit workout (mostly the heavy metcons).

How adjustable are your jerk boxes, i.e. can you lower them enough to snatch/clean from blocks? Nice to be able to pull from blocks every now and then to work on speed under the bar.
Not that pulling blocks are really something you'd get as a gift, more like something you'd build I guess...

We already had this thread here. But the more time we mention stuff the more likely we are to actually get it!
Basically all I REALLY want is the 1kg-rule plates, and I'd settle for the all-black ones!!! (cheaper).

They're adjustable, but they are a pain to adjust. I'm thinking of building a pair of pulling boxes over the holiday.

If you need a place to crash for a few days, or a week or so, please ask. We have plenty of room here (and a place to train!).

Thanks mezzie I might take you up on that if things don't work out,
very tempting! although the commute to work would suck.

Actually the bus into Port Authority takes about 25 minutes from here. If you work in Brooklyn or Queens, yeah, it'd suck, but Midtown Manhattan would be a snap

you'd probably hate the russian routines, what with your affinity to daily max every workout, lol
I just want to hit 80-85kg snatch and a 105-110kg clean&jerk for the next meet I do in january.

I miss the training atmosphere there. With 2 platforms, multiple bars and serious bumprage, I never had to wait to get going! Having someone loading stones, someone else doing log clean and presses, someone else squatting 700, someone benching 500, and people farmers walking, kettlebelling, and tire flipping made it a very inspirational place to train, that's for sure!

WOW, those are very close to my current goals. Except, I finally hit a 70kg snatch (literally like 30 mins ago) and I already have a foam roller.
I'll be happy if my GF grabs me a tub of ON protein in Choco mint. Maybe some knee sleeves.

Well, for the few people who actually threw some ideas out there, thanks. I didn't think about knee sleeves or a new singlet. I did think about some books and DVD's from IronMind, possibly a subscription to MILO.
Now back to the rest of the discussion.

Sorry about the thread hijack!
I used to have a subscription to Milo (when I lived in Japan actually), but it gets kind of old kind of fast. The best stuff are the meet reports (Oly, strongman, arm wrestling, etc.) and pictures, but the training articles are generally pretty week. There's so much amazing info online these days I didn't see the point in keeping up my subscription.
I'm more excited when the IronMind catalogue comes than the Victoria's Secret catalogue...

I would also ask for new shoes if you need a pair. I love getting new work out gear. Or some small stocking stuffers like chalk, wrist wraps, water bottle, small journal etc...
Little stuff that you never think about.

I actually want a chalk board so I can mark off my sets as I go through my workout. I don't like fiddling with a notebook and pen all the time...
EDIT: I train at home, so no, I wouldn't be lugging a chalk board and chalk in my gym bag out to the gym. Though that'd be funny to see.
