Smile Saying hi & question about Non-US Resources

Hi everyone!

I stumbled on this website this week and I've been enjoying many hours of browsing the forums and topics. I'm very inspired by all you amazing women to make big changes in my health and fitness!

I've been overweight since I was about 16 years old. My parents divorced and I used food to comfort myself. And then I'd eat because I was depressed that I overate etc etc. You know how it goes!

After University, my weight stabilized and I even lost some weight with help from my then boyfriend (who is now my husband). He started training and encouraged me to join. I did well for a few months, then "took" a few months off, then went back. Just before my wedding I worked really hard and dropped 6kg's - the lightest I had been since high school. I felt amazing and was getting compliments from friends and co-workers. And then my fatal mistake - I felt since I was looking and feeling good, I could ease up on gym. That was the month before I got married, and after the honeymoon I had put on all the weight I lost within 1 week. Dammit!!

That was in May, and I've been training on and off since then. Right now I'm back on track and DETERMINED to stay on track. I think about my body daily and about how uncomfortable and unhappy I feel in my own skin.

We eat healthy at home (the weekends need a bit more work) and I've been combining cardio and weight lifting 4 times a week. I used to weigh myself once a month and feel extremely demotivated when I would see no changes, so this time around I'm keeping away from the scale and tracking my changes by how my clothes fit and how my body feels.

My main goal is to stick to training 4 times a week. If I can do that, the other goals will follow!

My stats - 1.63m, 69kgs (152lbs, 5'3)

NON US RESOURCES

I know there are a few websites where you can track your calories etc (Fitday.com) but as they are all US based, I find it difficult to use them (I am from South Africa) Most of those databases do not have South African food brands etc. How do you other international users track your calories?

I'm looking forward to chatting with you all very soon!

Make sure that you are PROGRESSING when you train 4x a week. If you're not, you are eventually going to get stuck.

I think all the databases out there allow you to enter custom foods. Fitday definitely does.

Glad you're back on track...good luck!

Hi neighbour...
I have recently started to use FitDay too as my diet has become a little all over the place since I had the baby last year... I hunt around and generally can find something similar enough to the SA brands to put instead...
I used to used Nutracheck but it only gives total calories and fat grams.... but had more of the same brands...
On the other had if we are avoiding as much as possible processed stuff it doesn't make alot of difference...
All the best,
S
