My Zeus by Fusion Bodybuilding Log - http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=118860361
I went to the game -- flew out of Columbia around 3:15 Friday afternoon and returned home right after the game. I think we arrived home around 2:00 or so -- can't remember with the time change and the fact beer was my friend after the fact.
My experience and observations (in order of "as the thoughts come to me.")
1) Neyland Stadium is by far the nastiest stadium I've ever been to. Nasty, nasty, nasty. Just not clean. The bathrooms were unsanitary and regardless of where we were in the stadium (other than the actual stands) it smelled like vomit. If there is a lot of money in that program, I suggest they use some of it to pressure wash, fumigate, put in new toilets and have stall doors with locks that actually function. In the stadium, we were forced to stand on the bleachers for about 3/4s of the game. I don't mind standing, but prefer it to be on the concrete. Plus, there were a lot of elderly people in the near vicinity who could not balance precariously on bleachers. Each seat space apparently is allotted to accommodate half of one butt. I'm a size 2 butt, so I guess for some butts that means 1/16 of a butt.
2) Our offensive line sucks. Our kick off coverage sucks. I just wanted them to go for it on 4th in places it normally wouldn't be a wise decision, but with us it is because they are going to be freaging able to bring the ball back 60 yards once we kick it to them anyway!! Spiller will eat us up. Play calling at times boggles the mind. Our attitude sucks. I thought it was changing, but come out and play freaging football. Why in the world do we year after year have the propensity to throw away the game before it hardly gets going? Does the offense sit around and discuss, "Hey! I know what! Let's make sure we have a bunch of turnovers -- then the opposing team can run up the score -- so the defense will eventually hang it up and say F-it, we quit too!" ????
3) ^^^^^^^^ all boils down to coaching. They recruit the players and they are responsible for getting them ready -- attitude, physical prowess, skill, etc. As far as I'm concerned, therein lies the problem. People can say what they want about Vandy, but they come out and play disciplined football at least.
4) I almost left at half-time. I don't generally leave games. There was a warm, dry bus with a television waiting on me. Plus, it had beer. I still don't know why I didn't, but I didn't. It was miserable! Cold, wet, and we were getting our asses handed to us.
5) I sat around some of the rudest Carolina fans I've ever been around in my life. This older lady -- I swear around 75 to 80 -- yelled so ugly at a Vol fan who was merely cheering on his team. I couldn't believe the craziness that came out of her mouth. She was going on about pumping gas, profanities, etc. The Vol turned around, but it was a scene. Later, a man (not gentleman) next to my husband said GD, F, and every other profanity he could spew to the same Vol man's girlfriend/wife while he had gone to the restroom. He was going on about Kiffin like she was Kiffin. Idiot. She just looked at him, but didn't say a word in return. Rude, rude, rude. I wanted to tell her I was sorry and did tell them both goodbye and their team played a great game. The WORST was this elderly man behind me who yelled when one of their players got hurt, "Who cares. Hit them harder! There is plenty of room in the cemeteries!!" I have no words.
I'm sure there were plenty of rude Vol fans also, but I didn't encounter them. Just recounting my experience.
6) I saw the team after the game. It was like walking through a group at a funeral. Spurrier looked disgusted. They look embarrassed.
7) The only thing that would have made that feel better is if someone was passing around tequila shots during the game.
8) I will never choose Neyland Stadium as an away game to attend again.
Edit:
9) We don't practice tough enough. It seems to be obvious. Tennessee was hitting the crap out of us every chance they got.
10) Met Terry Cousin last night. Seems like a really nice man.
And I posted in Will's (storm's) journal, I could have been passing out candy to cute little children for Halloween instead. Plus, I could have been eating some Halloween candy myself.
To add insult to injury, we didn't get home until so late and I was wired, so I took a sleeping pill. I woke up at 1:00 and missed getting to set my fantasy football lineup. I love the Steelers, so half my team has a bye week. LOLOL
Carry on. Happy Sunday!!

Wow, I'm sorry about the game.
I hope the week goes better!

That's a drag, Diane. I don't go to "away" games for the reasons you listed. Just not worth it. If the home teams want my money, they'll make changes, or else they'll never see me. Not that they care, but that's the way I feel about it. Some ignorant morons think buying a ticket gives them the right to act like horses' a**es.
Thanks to you being a person I admire and have for many years, I have made a point to watch the South Carolina Gamecocks this year. I sat in amazement watching the game as well as the soaked fans. Between the play on the field and the rain in the stands, I felt really bad for you! If all that was not bad enough, they never one time turned the television camera on you.

OMG!! We got home at like two or three in the morning and then took a sleeping pill. I woke up at 1:00 and it was too late to change my fantasy football lineup and it's loaded with Steelers! LOL Pooh! Bad football weekend for me!!

It's a new week, and a new Saturday coming up!

Awww, thanks TwoWalks! You're a sweetie! They usually focus the camera on the pretty people and everyone was too soaked! Did they find some pretty girlies? LOL
Okay -- now, remember -- it was drizzling and we had already had beer. Brittany and me and the Heisman trophy at the Tennessee games. I think our arms are in the wrong direction, but I'm trying to hold onto the football. LOL

They might have but it was hard to tell ... they were all covered in bright plastic.

I didn't see the game but I would have penciled in a win for you guys in that one. Looks like the team got wrecked though. Could have been the weather.
I feel for you regarding that stadium. I played there many moons ago and it was a hole in the wall back then. I'm not sure if they've done any renovations but its got to be close to a 100-year old facility.

:-) I still shiver thinking of how cold I was out there in the rain witnessing a slaughter.

Good luck with Arkansas this weekend.
Mick
We turned the ball over three times early on just making stupid mistakes. They capitalized on each mistake. Then we threw another one to them later in the game. Hard to win playing like that. I don't know what was up -- they seemed to be effortless for whatever reason.
They've not done renovations yet, but supposedly they have plans for them. I sure hope so! Gross!
Thanks! We have what it takes to beat Arky if we show up to play.

You need to come to KY next year. Are you getting any workouts in?
We do need to go to Kentucky! I've not been there either! We had actually planned on Alabama this year, but Brian, Jr. decided to come home that weekend and we wanted to see him.
Workouts?! LOL Honestly, I've been out of sorts forever and a day since moving into this apartment. I've signed my termination of lease agreement and am vacating the premises at the end of November. I'm moving back home -- partly -- but actually plan spending a lot of time at Kiawah. I figure screw it -- I will just go live on a resort and take photography classes, save turtles, etc. ha,ha,ha
As a matter of fact, I'm heading there this afternoon and plan on coming back to Columbia for the Florida game -- Saturday after this coming Saturday. I'm going to take pilates while there and ride my bike a lot. I still want to learn to skate on rollerblades. There's so may paths there to do that activity. I have to get brave enough to go get lessons.
Hope you guys are doing great! Doing laundry and heading to Kiawah!! Brian is at Pinehurst golfing, Brittany is in Charleston and Brian, Jr. is slaving away in New York, but missing home a lot I think.
Carry on kiddies......
Edit: Oh -- and oooh, oooh -- got lasering #4 today. That $HI+ hurts! I tried to outsmart them today by taking four Advil and 1/2 a 1 mg Xanax (I usually save those for flight). It was a pretty good strategy and made the experience much easier.
My new vehicle gets here Thanksgiving week. That's kind of cool.
That's all!

Can I come? I have a camera and can count turtles pretty well, as long as there are only ten at a time, twenty if I am bare foot.
Enjoy the Island and tell Garcia he is actually playing for SC, I think he may be confused.

Sure! :-D
I think we have major issues with our line play and have for a while. It makes the QB scramble and I'm sure after he gets hit a bazillion times, kind of disoriented. LOL If we get better line play, I bet Garcia will shine.

Hard to look at that car and think it could look better but that is the case.
Add Hibiscus ornamentation and its nothing but pure class and glamor.
