It's about the way men treat women, about social instability.
Unfortunately, lots of men drink and smoke.

But they do have a lot of poorer areas, and a relatively educated population, so a good number of Russians, given their education, could make more money if they moved.

wow, I hadn't looked at GDP in a long time. thnx for posting numbers.

As for oil, if I recall correctly, most is in Siberia which makes it very hard to get, plus they seized some oil rigs after the foreign company paid out all the money to find it and drill it.

As for Russian vs any female - US or not, you get what you pay for. You want to buy a wife with money, good luck. You still need to invest emotions, personal time and build up a relationship, being from a different location and culture doesn't change that aspect.

I know of several disasters first hand.

1) Situation #1

This fellow didn't got looking for a mail-order bride, he met a Russian lady here in the U.S. on a work visa. She was in her early 20's he was in his mid-30's. They started dating and she was instantly pregnant. He wanted to do the right thing and married her so that he could raise his child. She got her green-card and got to stay in the USA. Now marrying an American girl just because you got her pregnant in the first month of dating wouldn't be a recipe for a successful marriage, and neither was this.

However, the catch was after 1 1/2 years of a loveless marriage he wanted a divorce which meant that she might lose her green-card status and not get to stay in the USA. Since she had a network of other Russian brides to advise her, they told her the only way she could stay was to say that he was abusing her. She went and filed charges for domestic violence that never occurred and he was arrested.

He lost his job, supervised custody, and a nasty divorce. She got her divorce, child support, and to stay in the USA.

2) Situation #2

A widower finds a young Russian bride and marries her for companionship as he is very lonely. Now his retirement check is spent supporting not only his new wife, but all her relatives back in Russia.

In case you are thinking that any woman from any country where the living standards are dramatically less than ours, realize that gratefulness has a half-life of about 6 months. After a year, she'll be a twice as worse as any stereo-type of "American Women".

I think it's wise to just keep looking here in America and not go for the easiest catch in the sea.

Been there done that!

I can not speak for all women but the thing is money is just that...money, as long as the bills are paid and food is on the table it only makes life more comfortable.
Having lived at both ends of the spectrum I personally feel that money can cause as many problems if you have more than enough as it does when there is not enough, there is a happy middle ground.
if your relationship is based on money then it is not a relationship it is convenience.
A partner does not need to bring in money to my table, not everyones version of success is a big office,cars and vacation homes.
As long as they make you happy and emotionally are what you want and need then that is all that counts at least to me however I do know a few women who would not even think about dating someone that was not living comfortably.


However getting married to someone takes a lot of thought and like it or not if you do not know that person very very well you could be setting yourself up for disaster.
Mail order spouses are a disaster waiting to happen IMO.

I completely agree. But, let me save you the trouble, talking somebody out of getting a mail order bride is like talking a junkie out doing drugs. I've had a friend get completely rabid on me for daring to question that the Russian girl, who was a Model and Doctor, who need money and a place to stay while she practiced medicine in the US was a complete fraud.
