worried about my peak week
Im now 2.5 weeks out from my first figure comp. and am getting a little worried about my up coming peak week... I really don't want to screw things up in the end...
I do have a trainer and I do have a "plan" laid out for me for that week, however it involves 4 days of only veggies as my carbs then loading starting on Thursday am. Worried about such a long deplete and thinking, a 2 day load??? It also involves a water manipulation but not a complete deplete which i am happy about... I am supposed to start with a water pill the Sunday before and I am having trouble figuring out which one would be best suited...I have Expel but have read about others that may be better but am worried as I tend to cramp on a daily basis as it is, so i am thinking the expel may be a more "natural" alternative. Any thoughts? I know there are so many diffrent opinions and options out there and I have been reading all morning on the supersite diffrent ways, but then I get more confused....
My diet and training have really been working for me so far, Im sure you can look at my pics and see that there is definate room for improvement, and i could probably be leaner but at 2.5 weeks to go I really need to do all I can do to bring my best package without being to extreme. I know peak week doesn't involve a magic wand, but I want to make sure it doesn't make me look worse in the end...
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!
MGG

My best advice ,if u have a coach and have been satisfied with the results of your partnership thus far, would be to KEEP TRUSTING your coach and address concerns with him/her. this close to your show, you should not be ''thinking'' but simply doing. Uve got enough on your plate already (no pun intended ! lol )
Good luck!

4 days of no carbs sounds about right. Here is a easy chart I use as a reference tool. I've used it several times so I know it works.

Being this is your first show it is normal to be nervous. Stick to the plan laid out for you.
As for "natural diuretics" I always have my clients use WaterTight by PVL or Dandelion Root.
Both work well if used properly.
You should only use them for 2-3 days in a row max. Then the body adjusts to there effects and they are not as useful.
If your Avi pic is recent ? you look like you are right on track
Best of Luck

Thank you! I have heard of using Dandelion root before, not the other but I will google it...Thanks for the heads up! Is it just those two in general not to use longer than 3 days or is that with "most" diuretics? I was told to start a week out...
Yep, Avi pic was taken this past weekend... So thats great to know that I look on track! Thanks..I was just told by the know it all trainer at my gym, if i have 2 weeks to go i should be worried about coming in to skinny...lol! I knew there was a reason I didn't hire him!!!!! lol! So you really did just make me feel better, thanks!
Really, thank you for taking the time to answer!!

I agree with dandelion root, as well as Uva Ursi. I also agree that a week of diuretics sounds illogical, but you should address that with your trainer. Never be afraid to ask your trainer questions. If they are any good, they will be happy to explain the reasoning behind their tactics.

Sodium increase isn't a "must" but reducing sodium is extremely important. You said your drinking 1 gallon a day a week before show and then decreasing the final week?? Figure girls don't need to restrict water the way a bbr do, I would suggest increase your water (water in water out) and don't decrease untill thursday but no sooner. If you restrict your water too soon, you will do the opposite and end up being soft and watery looking. Our bodys will hold onto water if you restrict it too long that's why you want to do it for such a short time (2 days max).
Hope that makes sense

Hey Tamee, Thanks once again for your advice! I have been keeping a close eye on my water this week and I am at 1.5 to 2 gallons now (2 weeks out). Reading over my "plan" laid out for me I am to drink 1 gallon sun-tuesday (of peak week) along with no carbs (wednesday is still no carbs but water is down to .5 gallon) then start carb load Thursday with water at .5 gallon, Friday still carbing and decrease water to 32oz. Along with teraxatone daily starting Sunday... Just "seems" like my water manipulation is a little diffrent that what I read is the "norm". Once again, i know we are all diffrent, but it seems as though its to much depleting too early...? Any opinions or suggestions?
Thanks,
MGG

If your body is used to a constant flow of water, it will keep expelling water along with any excess sodium in your system that you are trying to get rid of the last couple days. In my prep I drink about 2 gallons but increase it to 2.5 gallons Monday and Tuesday of peak week, 2 on Wed, 1.75 Thurs, 1.5 Fri, and 2-4 glasses Saturday Morning, depending on what time I go on stage. This works for me but eveyrone is different
If you cut it too soon, by Friday you will be down to almost nothing and seriously dehydrated. It is funny because when you are used to drinking so much water, you almost feel dehydrated only drinking 1.5 gallons (even though that is more than the average person drinks in a day). If you cut your water and sodium too soon and/or take diuretics too long, your body produces ADH (anti diuretic hormone) which causes your body to retain more water than usual.

I agree, you are cutting your water too soon. Your carbs sound right on but your water is off. I increase me water Mon - Wed as close to 3 gallons as possible, what's weird is during these three days I'm hard as NAILS. So I reduce thursday(1.5), friday(1) and saturday (drink as needed) but I never get rid of my water all together. We should not follow a bb dry out and that's what your water reduction reminds of me of... a bb.

that is perfect info! Thank you! You are prob right about the bb dry out cause that is what she has mainly competed in. I am thinking a good plan of attack for me would be Sunday normal water (btwn 1.5-2 gallons) then mon-wed bump it to btwn 2-2.5(is that enough of an increase?) then Thursday 1 gallon, Friday .5 gallons and Saturday just sips in the AM? Sound ok? But not sure about the water pill, just start that on Thursday?
Thanks again, mgg

Yes keep your water pills the same (thursday). I know for NPC they are really telling the gals to not even change their water. They don't want figure gals to be "dry". And that's why you notice the fuller softer girls are winning, they don't want a bb look for figure anymore. But I think your new plan is MUCH better.

"everything works and nothing works" .. basically there ARE many diff types of preps... and many with the same end result. It's more of a consistency matter. So since your trainer knows what you've been doing, your best bet is just to follow through with the plan for the last week as they have instructed you. BEST of luck to you!!! And ENJOY your show!!!! =)
