This is the case with me when I'm lifting, but during cardio, I like to have something else to concentrate on. I go on auto-pilot with the running or cycling and listen to music or watch TV. I would read, except trying to read while doing cardio (and moving around) always gets me a little bit motion sick.

I saw a great gym idiot last week. I just thought about it.
This guy was doing abs and he decided to hang off the back of the decline bench instead of being on the bench. He lays his body back and the entire bench flips over. He stands up, puts the bench right back up and acts like nothing happened and walks off.

Use the bench the right way would have been great. But what makes it worse is the gym has 150lb dumbbells that people can put under the bench to hold it in place if they do want to do situps the way he was doing it. He just chose not to use them.

I meant in regards to the part I bolded. I guess that wasn't part of your gripe though. I agree wholeheartedly w/ the above though.

They then ride of into the sunset like true warriors 3 abrest on their 50cc mopeds hogging the whole road.

yuppp..sounds similar to what i see. we have a couple heavy and muay thai bags, and these kids would wear nothing but UFC branded fight gloves to punch the bags with. i can only imagine how torn up their knuckles are.
its not hardcore, its stupidity!

I actually saw someone shadowboxing in between his failsquats last night. I couldn't believe my eyes. I swear he looked like a 3 year old 'playing make believe'.

sometimes I have to rest upwards of 5min between sets for hard lifts, gotta do something between sets. I always feel a little concsious that other people think I'm a jackass, but if you want to use the rack or something, just ask and I'll let you work in while I read. I've had people complete entire bodypart routines duirng a single rest period when I was doing the last set of my semolov cycle

There was this guy in the gym earlier who went to the squat rack and squatted with what I was working out on. Since I was resting, I didn't bother to ask him and watched him on it. Then I witnessed something funny: he was squatting as if squats were done through sticking your ass out while supporting a barbell on your back.
I know squats are tough (and I make it a point to ensure I'm parallel everytime) but (not bragging), don't go touching my stuff and not doing it right especially when you're a lot taller (and looked little bigger) than me. Shame...

Theres this guy in my gym that always brings his two younger brothers (one looks like hes 12 and the other maybe 15) No big deal I thought. Well for the last two weeks they are in there for a least 3 hours and they take up half of the gym. They use both of the squat racks, 3 benches at a time, and I forgot to mention they dont DO anything but their older brother who prances around with his gallon of water looking in every mirror he can. Really gets annoying.. I wish golds would implement a age requirement before you can join their gym.

-the guys who were at the gym last summer and stopped coming during the winter "yeah, I'm getting back into it. Just needed a rest." a 6-8 month rest?! You didn't need that, you were just too lazy to get your arse out of bed on a cold morning.
-Fat guys in tapout gear.
-The Kickboxers who work flashy moves on the bag yet can't throw a technically decent hook.
-The guys who want to start a conversation with me when I'm in the middle of a deadlift. I'm a nice guy, But don't get in the way of my deadlift, @#$%!
-The guys who sit on the bench press watching the telly.
-the guy walking on the treadmill with his phone on speaker mode.

do you have any training? cuz if you do, you'd probably permanently injure most of these guys.
