Any crunchy "snack" ideas?

Prior to my change to a truly clean diet 6 months ago, one of the things I used to enjoy was typical "snack" type crunchy things. Pretzels and baked potato chips mostly. Didn't eat many Doritos or things like that, even regular potato chips were too greasy for my tastes. But I do like crunchy things. I haven't found any good replacements for that as part of a clean diet. Does anyone have something as crunchy as a pretzel or chip they use as part of their clean diet?

I've been wanting to try roasted soybeans. I've heard these are good and supposed to be one of the few vegtables that is a complete protein... or so I've read.

I like to take a half cup of unsalted almonds, put them in a sandwich bag with some cinnamon and Splenda, and shake it all up. Tastes great for a morning snack with my coffee.

My oldest son was scarfing those down this past weekend. He said they were great. But for some reason, the word "soy" is a non-starter for me .

Agreed, if he can eat it that way. Man, I think the 70's was the last time I actually had air popped popcorn. However, I do eat popcorn regularly and think it's a great snack for the evening if any carbs are to be consumed. Probably not as "crunchy" as the OP is looking for, but good nonetheless. I pop it the old fashioned way like my father used to when I was a kid; in a pot on the stove top with canola oil, and I buy bulk popcorn in the bag. I can make enough for 5 people to feast on in about 7 minutes, and in one pot by just dumping it as it overflows. I lightly salt it and never add anything else. When my kids were younger they would turn their nose up at it and always opt for the ever so gross microwave popcorn, which is filled with nauseating amounts of..whatever "flavor" and "butter". Now? After all these years, they love my home cooked popcorn and never eat microwave anymore.

Since I do not know what your macros are and everyone else is posting pretty low calorie stuff for snacks I'll go against the grain here.

I like to shred cheese, sharp chedder or whatever and put it on parchment paper about 2 TBS a pile and pop it in the oven, they get real crispy and you end up with cheese "chips". Just be sure to blot any fat off them before you store them I never have a problem with them being greasy but then again I use the low fat cheese.

Dollar Tree has pretzel nuggests; been known to go through a bag in 2-3 days. Also, those almond flavored windmill cookies; great for coffee dunking or worse spread canned vanilla/cream cheese frosting. Popcorn; gotta be no butter or the kettle corn. Caramel corn, there'd be no stopping. Healthy, the OP wants? baby carrots; but never have had the hankering to eat them non stop.

Yeah, I've tried using baby carrots or nuts, but it just isn't the same. My macros are roughly:
2850 cals per day
60g fat 20%
280g carb 40%
280g protein 40%

Some really good ideas here. I haven't tried eating corn based stuff in years (popcorn, Sunchips, rice cakes), as things made with corn and corn meal used to really upset my stomach. But I've since gotten my stomach issues under much better control. Thanks for the ideas!

They're not part of my diet, but how about some roasted crickets? They're high in protein, and they're reputed to have a nutty flavor. And I doubt you'd overdo it when snacking on them.

You can find a recipe here:

I like Wasabi or Spiricha peas. I'm not sure exactly how healthy they are but I can keep myself to a single serving or less even though I love the flavor I just can't eat to many.

Other than that its Air pop for me too. The better brands really do pop up lighter and fluffier than the store brands.

Dry roasted and salted Edamame (soy) beans are good and high in protein.

I also like Wasabi and Soy flavored Almonds from Blue Diamond.

If you've got a good diet, and watch what you eat, (devil's advocate here) indulge in some Fritos! Those corn chips are a killer. At times I need salt, and something, as you say, crispy! Have at it. You can buy the little packs, 3 for a dollar at the local filling station! LOL Not every night, mind you. But once in awhile, God, they're good! I'll put half a pack under some beans, with two eggs on top. Makes a good breakfast, in two shakes of a leg! Crunchy and salt is better than a three tier cake at times! Indulge!!!! Once in awhile.

One of my favorite snacks is taking some granola cereal and mixing it in a cup with some blueberries and some walnuts. I shake it up to get everything mixed and eat.

Might not be the lowest calorie snack but it's good.

I bought a bag of Terra Chips the other day.

Sweet potato, beet, carrot, and other veggies as a chip.

Gotta watch the calories on these, like 150 cals per serving on them.

^^^Guilty of this.

Fritos in the bottom of a bowl, topped with black beans, thrown in the nuker, then a couple over easy eggs...is AWESOME.
Haven't had this in a long long time, thanks for reminding me....good times!! lol
