But guy, you need to do some research. http://www.afrotc.com/
I do not think you'll be able to be a video game programmer in the Air Force.... sorry guy.
However, you could probably do something cool with Cyber Warfare? Computer Engineering/Comp Sci/Programming are a wanted career field if I'm not mistaken (which I could be). Weight requirements when entering are non-existent. You can be a fat **** and join up, but once you are in, you need to get down to where you need to be. Naw-mean?
I can't say if active duty is enjoyable or not, but I get the feeling that it might be since I have a natural sense of service/duty. If you do too, you'll most likely too. Yes it is a steady paying career.
Rising in ranks will be automatic (mostly) for the first four year as an AF officer.
start - 2nd Lieutenant - after two years 1st Lieutenant - after four Captain. After that, its recommended to have a masters (pretty much required), and time will not exactly matter. Even further after that, I do not know exactly, I know you need to go to Squadron officer school, Air War college, and some other crap sometime in there.
|
Even if you have a Master's and did SOS in-residence, Major is still hard to make. For pilots, it's pretty much guaranteed unless you screw up. Non-rated career fields it's a little harder but still a high selection rate. I've already seen 3 Captains get passed over for Major twice and had to get out. Kick a$$ at your job, volunteer for as many PME and career broadening opportunities as you can, and take care of your troops and you'll be ok.

Question, We're supposed to leave a little early from here and I'm not sure if I'm supposed to talk to my TMO office at my home station or talk to TMO here on base to get tickets. Thoughts? We're set to graduate BFE around the 24th of this month.

Call the commercial travel office when you get your orders and they will book tickets on your GTC.

Alright brothers I started BLM today! Pretty exciting stuff..my instructor is cool as hell. Deadfingers I think I'm in your hallway now. The negative 20 degree freeze your ass off hallway LOL! It's cool.
I got distinguished grad for fundies so thats cool. Only reason I mentioned wanting it is because there's a load here at the dorms who got distinguished grad for BLM and got offerred an AFSOC slot down at hurlburt on the gunships.I mainly want MC's though. We'll see.
Iccy, we got our dreamsheet list today with the bases we can put down with their respective airframes. Both Eglin and Mildenhall have the MC130P's so I'm putting both down. Along with some overseas and 17s I'm hoping I get a good assignment. I'm not too worried about it. Either way I'm gonna love my job.

make E-6 before me? WTF. seriously? i wasn't mad about your neg earlier and i even told other people not to neg you back for me.

I am aware now and I apologize.
I had gotten into it with another NCO for harrasing one of my Airman. My troop was just walking out of his CHU and was not aware of the new policy cause it was sent out while he was on his downtime. But, the dickface NCO proceeded to give my troop a hard time.
So, I told the other NCO off. Not in front of my troop of course. I just can't stand people like him.
Again, I apologize to you Kababayan.

I was highly recommended to do a rebuttle and I was told best to do it asap. I don't know what to say or how to start it off because I've never had to do one. I feel like, if I write one which I am, all it's gonna do is place blame else where(MTLs) etc.
the people who got LORs for it as well all have the same consensus that they focused on energy drinks.
-AFI/MFR/Amendment for this new rule was never posted anywhere in the Squadron.
-Never read to us verbatim or anywhere close to reading it, basically Energy Drinks focused
-Stupid Rule(not gonna put that in)
-caffeine pill is equivalent to coffee, but coffee is not banned.
-we're here to learn and these supplements while used safely, benefit us to stay alert and help us stay focused in class room.
im headed to chow but any ideas will help as i have to get to the library in an hour and write this up within 2 hours.

Hey bro, just do rap anyway. The tech school has nothing to do with your RAP. all you need to do is go to your recruiter and do rap and they will make you a rap letter so you wont be charged with leave. i did rap with a girl who had an LOR and she had no problems. RAP should be on your orders and if it is you are good to go.

Hey guys, new to this thread. Well, I'll just introduce myself here. I lived one hard life. I dropped out of college which seriously pissed me off (wasted lots of money). It's real personal so I don't want to explain why I dropped out
I love my Mom to the fullest and I appreciate everything she has done for me (she's a single mother).
So, I want to be independent and I don't want to put anymore burden on my Mom, so I decided to join the military. It will give me discipline, definitely make me independent, and it'll give me a bright future
I come from a family of sailors. I have three uncles who came from the Navy. They served for 20 years. They're now retired of course and they are now seriously successful. They got nice homes and cars so I aspire to be like them. My Dad also served in the navy but thats all I know about him but I still love him because he's my Dad
I decided to join the air force because I've heard many positive things about it (good quality of life). But I'm well aware that it won't be easy. I'm not going to slack off. The military will have its ups and downs (thats life). But hey, I'm serving my country, I'm independent, and I get to travel the world. That's what matters
So yep, thanks guys for reading. I got plenty of respect for all ya'll. I got no question right now. I'm just studying for the ASVAB and working out right now
Peace

The worst they can say is no right? As I had mentioned too, you can always kick a$$ your AS100 year and get a 3 year scholarship. IMO, go ahead and join at the college of your choice, do well, and apply again if you don't get it this round. The stats vary every year as far as how many applicants, how many scholarships are available, etc. They look at more than your GPA too.... extra-curricular activities, letters of recommendation, ACT/SAT scores, etc... those all matter too.

Scholarships sometimes don't cover 100% of tuition depending on the type of scholarship (1, 2, or 7) and how much the university charges, so you can use the GI Bill to supplement the tuition, misc fees, and book money that is provided for you with the scholarship.
