I actually saw Rahxephon before NGE, which definitely has more shock and awe action scenes. I've probably set an impossible bar to reach, but I think it's definitely worth the watch, I don't usually re-watch a series, but I've done so three times with Rah.

Will watch in the future.
Anyone know any good ninja anime? I'd prefer it to be pretty serious and bloody.
Right now I'm watching Afro Samurai. I expected it to be goofy and not really good. I was way wrong. It's awesome.

Basilisk is what you're looking for, the Ninja Scroll movie is pretty serious, the series is a bit more goofy

Shiriguri is an intense, dark, gory samurai tale of betrayal and revenge, some may find it boring since it doesn't do much in the flair and humor category, but I really enjoyed it.
Tsukihime is more of a confusing love story, now that I think about it, I don't remember much from it...but it's only 12 episodes so it made a quick watch.

i've always wanted to watch that one. It's 26 episodes or more? either way it's on my download list.

Have you seen soukyuu no fafner? It's touted as another successor to NGE just like rahxephon. Personally between rahxephon and fafner, I enjoyed fafner more.

Yes I watched that one too, I enjoyed Rah more, but they were both really good. I couldn't get into Fafner at first, then powered through it earlier this year, glad I did.

basilisk
ninja scroll (series + movie)
shigurui

Naruto Shippuden 134
Epic as usual. Love the music during the itachi <-> sasuke staredown and bunshin kill. Since they started this "movie style" animation this has imo seriously been the best shonen animation (in anime form at least).

Is it just as messed up? That's what i liked about NGE. how it was so philosophical and psychological/ disturbing. will consider watching rah.

Just finished up the 5th and final season of Major... damn that **** was good, nothing better than a good sports anime. I actually watched the world series and enjoyed it because of all the major i've been watching and thought it was kind of fitting that Matsui (Japanese DH for the Yankees) single handedly won game 6 for his team.
Anybody got any recommendations on any other sports animes? Im thinking about giving eyeshield 21 another go... I had trouble getting into it last time because the way they portrayed football kept pissing me off.

Hah not nearly as much, I liked that about NGE too, the complete shock and terror of some of those scenes freaked me out in a good way. Rah deals with the subconscious too but is definitely more tame.

you kno i jus recently changed my mind about major and starting to really like it again. So there's only 5 seasons of Major, or 6?
Yeah eyeshield gets annoying at times but after a while u'll start to either really like it like crack or u'll hate it even more lol.

As far as I know there are only 5 seasons and I haven't heard of any new seasons coming out yet. I hope they continue with the series because Major has become one of my favorite anime of all time, but with the way season 5 ended I wouldn't be surprised if that was it.
I hear you on eyeshield, thats kind of the feeling I got from it. Im hoping upon giving it another try i'll learn to love it. I need another long running sports anime in my life.

So what do the Darker Than Black fans think of S2? IMO it's not all that great so far (although I still look forward to it every week), at least compared to the first 5 episodes of S1. Hoping that it will pick up soon. Not much time left since it's only 12 episodes long. Also, Yin needs to get the **** into the picture. Yin > *

Yeah Im gonna have to agree with you on that, I am just going to wait til the season is over and watch everything in one sitting.
So far its been a little lack luster, as I have said before they deviated from what made DTB so good and brought all this new junk into the story line so we'll see how it pans out.

I finally finished Major....great ending. Ended pretty strong. For those who still remember, it was kinda similar to the ending from the very first season....kinda lol. Im sure if they wanted to then they could probably drag it out for another season or two, but personally i'd rather them end it well than bring it back w/ a lame make up series like they did with yu yu hakusho or other anime. Now i gotta download the movie that they have for this.
Also watched the fullmetal alchemist movie....it was pretty good. Loved the scene with *highlight for spoiler* Gluttony. He looked crazy bad azz. Wonder how the hell he got to that mutated state but im guessing that's how he became after eating that eternal bytch lol. Also that one female who all the sudden got the power after crossing the gate had a lot of potential to do crazy stuff, she jus wussed out at the end. I think she could have easily gotten herself out of that situation....sigh ohh well *end spoiler*. Some scenes from the movie were pretty sad but didn't have as much of an effect/impact since there wasn't enough time to let it develop or sink in. Crazy how they all sacrificed themselves for the sake of a certain someone, although in reality i think their actions wasn't selfless. Personally i think they more so did it for themselves and not for the sake of other person....but that's jus me i guess.

Watching it right now, it's pretty good, really had nothing else to watch haha, but there's a new season so I want to catch up. Great action and some decent humor through the first 8 episodes.
