wanted to showcase one of my clients
everyones dream client. never misses a session and comes in on her day off. She has lost 40 pounds so far. The last one cuts off because the lift is a no go since her hips shoot up and she rounds her back. I'm also training her son on a strength and conditioning program. She started weight lifting a year ago.

A year and at 225 lbs already? Jealous. I'm hoping to hit 200 this month.

Or are you talking about me?
I complimented the video and then offered another visual aid for a results page.
Please Jando, do you think I'm searching for clients on a personal trainer forum? Something about that just doesn't make sense.....lol.

Along with the form, she has a nice cadence and follow through with the deadlift. I also like how the time taken between repetitions is to reset her grip while in the starting position.
I think the last lift was a no-go because your client lost her concentration; 30 seconds into the video you can see she becomes very aware of the camera. That's okay, some people can't lift and self-critique at the same time. Just means they're really focused on the exercise at hand.

Don't think you're talking to me, but if you were, I wouldn't want that deadlift. For a conventional deadlift, that form is pretty rough. I'd be calling it a Romanian Deadlift in your video titling if you want to be a more reputable trainer as seen by others in the field.
She is shooting her hips way too much and needs to keep the hips and shoulders falling and rising together. If she was lifting with her hips as a deadlift should, she wouldn't be doing 225. Nonetheless, its a good lift, just don't call it a straight deadlift.

Dude I was kidding.
It's a standard deadlift with proper form. With a deadlift you want the greatest tension, the least distance travelled and the greatest leverage. This is done in a hips high position.
Notice the graphic. http://gustrength.files.wordpress.co...ng?w=234&h=300
With a Romanian deadlift there's very little flexing of the knee and it's mainly about hip-drive
http://www.exrx.net/WeightExercises/...nDeadlift.html
but keep riding that high-horse!

Her hip drive is going to be awful weak if you keep her "deadlifting" like that. Her lift is all back.
Am I being a critical prick, yes. Do I want someone else viewing this vid and thinking that is how they should be deadlifting, NO.
I don't intend to get off this high horse anytime soon. The view is unreal!

there is absolutely nothing wrong with this lift. Her spine is neutral. A deadlift is done in a hips-high position. Refer to the position.

Excellent work - as much props to you for coaching her through it as her achieving it -
