October 25, 2009
Wow, just thinking after typing the date, 2 months until Christmas today! I am doing great on my new program!! I have shed 7 pounds since Wednesday! This diet is no joke. At least I have broken my plateau which is one goal I was striving for. I still have amazing energy even with such limited food, thank God.
yesterday's workout 10/24/09
warm-up:
Abs:
BOSU plated crunches 2x10x50
BOSU oblique crunches 2x10x50
Shoulders:
standing DB Presses w/palms twist in 2x10x15
lateral raises 2x5x15
smith machine shrugs 2x50x20
Shoulders and Abs workout:
Hammer Strength Side Raises
5x10x12 (weight each side)
Smith Machine Upright Rows
4x25x12
Cybex OH Press
4x30x12
2x30x10
DB Front Raises
4x15x12
Bodybar Pullovers
5x24x12
Cybex Ab Crunch
3X85X15
Cybex Torso Rotation
2x80x25
I would have done more for abs but the gym was closing and I had to go. Yesterday's food: 1 apple, large salad w/ only veggies and 1 avocado. Squeezed lime juice for dressing only. Vinegar is not allowed in any form. 1 can pineapple after workout. Dinner-spaghetti squash with more vegetables. Calories for the day prob. about 500. This program is like being a strict vegetarian!! I'll enter today's food and workout later...

I have been doing well on the diet plan. I dropped 13 pounds in 9 days! I'm feeling good, just tired from a busy week at school. I also am dealing with some upcoming corrective surgery. Plans for that are not set yet and it has been emotionally and mentally draining thinking about all that is involved. It's pretty overwhelming right now and I am just taking it one day at a time with all the decision making. Trying to stay strong and keep moving forward toward my goals!

I can understand people wanting to play around with different eating plans, but do you realize how unhealthy your plan is? Living on 500 calories a day is insane. You are taking a serious risk of messing up your metabolism and you're going to lose a ton of muscle if you continue on this route. The most successful plans come from a healthy balance protein, clean carbs and healthy fats. Your plan is lacking in all of this.
I just came across your journal and I had to say something because it concerns me.
Wishing you nothing but the best.

I know this diet does seem radical. Believe me I have tried every which way to break my plateau. I followed Tom Venuto's bodybuilding formula for caloric intake, I tried eating clean, lowering calories, I tried going back to the weight watcher's plan, tried more exercise, then less, I used Fitday to count calories and breakdown my carbs/fats/protein, also saw a nutritionist.... I always remained within 5 pounds up/down. I gave all ways time to work but they didn't. I am now trying this and of course I'm dropping pounds due to the low caloric intake. But this plan is based on accupressure. I am not just starving myself. Accupressure beads stimulate the hypothalamus to think it is receiving all the necessary fat/protein/carbs when obviously it is not. This sends messages to the body that you are full and will only burn fat. This program is not metabolic. It is supposed to reset the body's weight point. It is a natural, no drug way to achieve results. the site is accuweight.com
I do not intend to stay on the program more than one month. I am going to be having surgery and need to stabilize weight and get proper nutrition back into me for healing. I know exactly what I should be eating and tried, but this seems to be working. I will transition back to a regualr clean diet by the end of the month.
I do appreciate your thoughts...believe me I fought doing this all the way because I have lost 130 lbs the "right way" but after a year of minimal progress I am determined to change things and get reults. I did not want to take drugs, and this is more of a vegetarian type diet.
My problem is that I am stubborn and continue to weightlift/exercise like normal. I was told to ease up because I do not have the caloric intake to support "bodybuilding" workouts or for recovery. I am going to do that even though it is very difficult for me to cut back. I have lost no energy, stamina, or endurance so I felt like I could continue as normal. Yesterday though was tough after the workout-I did experience hunger. So, I need to cut back.
I am going forward with a mindset of whatever it takes...athletes push themselves all the time. I'm being as careful as possible.
I do so appreciate your concern!!! I can only hope that this will reset my body's acceptable weight point and I can maintain a normal diet afterward w/exercise.
This has been mentally, physically, and emotionally the hardest journey I have ever been through.
You are always welcome to check in and leave advice. I am doing this on my own without anyone to talk with about it all which has been most difficult. But, sheer determination is keeping me strong. Maybe this answered some questions about the diet for you and my plans. Again, leave your thoughts anytime!!

I concur with Kim. That is a horrible diet and your weight loss is water + muscle with some fat. And it's extremely unhealthy. Your inability to break out of a plateau previously could have been attributed to many causes. Resorting to such an extreme starvation diet is ridiculous. And don't believe the accupressure bs. Your body knows full well it's not getting everything it needs. Considering you're facing surgery it's even worse. You'll be going into it with an already stressed body.

I know...what else can I say but that I am trying it for now. I vacillate on the subject often. All that I am dealing with is just extremely overwhelming. I am trying my best to hold it all together. I know I can not do this for long and don't want to either. I understand people's opinion of this plan. It is insane but I know people who have done it and got major results. I'm just taking one day at a time right now. It's really all I can handle. I am in check of my health and will update progress or decisions as I make them. I do thank you for your input. I respect it, I'm just going against the grain for once and seeing where it takes me. Determination I guess to the extreme.

Well. I am off the accupressure diet. Listening to my body, it didn't want to continue past this week. I was too hungry even after what I feel was a light workout the other night. As I've stated, I wanted to break my plateau which happened, now I have to see where I can go from here. I need to be healthy and strong for upcoming surgery and I'd rather keep on working my ass off in the gym than starve it! I'm still working on finding that balance...ahh balance, the key to life. Anyway, just letting everyone that has reached out to me know that I am getting back to basics and as determined as always!

Thank you for the well wishes and of course concern. I am glad to be off that diet. Like you said, I am trying to stay strong for surgery which is coming soon. I'm feeling better about surgery as it will help me in my progression of reaching my goals. Keeping focused and positive about it all!

I'm continuing to try this kind of interval training with explosive weight lifting. Increasing weights more than I've been doing prior. My abs are still sore from yesterday and boy did I feel them throughout the exercises today. I even had to sneeze and stopped myself because they hurt so much! Anyway, It's all good and I'm happy about the pain! LOL

November 18, 2009
Well life has been a bit hectic lately and I couldn't get to the gym these past few days. I'm in the process of scheduling my surgery, doc. appts, changing gyms, busy at work, and so forth. I want to keep hitting the gym hard because my surgery is coming up in December and I won't be able to work out after that for about 3 weeks or so. It's going to be mentally rough not being able to work out and knowing that all my hard work is going to be zapped from not exercising. Hopefully all will spring back when I get back into the gym after Doctor's ok. Although, I know after that long of a respit I will feel like a newbie and will need to recover muscle and strength one step at a time. I am feeling strong and ready for the next steps on my journey.
