Damn man, we did what we could. You are right Al, we will be back next year. Hopefully next year we don't have some of our best batters go into a batting slump.

you know it Mike and maybe we can find us one more key starting pitcher which i think would have done it for us this year, Lee couldn't pitch everyday.

I disagree with starting Pedro, I mean he had the stuff of a college level pitcher imo.. that said, if Matsui wasnt that hot Phils probably would have won.. dang, the Yanks really are loaded though..

The salary cap won't happen because of the players association.
Think about it guys, if there's a salary cap, that means that the players currently on the market will all be getting smaller contracts. I can see how they would LOVE that. LOL.

Yeah, he really can't be effective in the field playing defense like he used to and we can't afford to have a guy camping out as DH. Rotating guys into the DH spot later in the year is what allowed them to stay healthy and fresh into late September.

What everyone fails to see is all the luxury tax dollars that the Yankees pay to every other team in the league - millions of dollars worth. Many team owners just pocket the money and do nothing to give their fans something to be proud of.

A lot of our star players are home grown talent - Posada, Jeter, Rivera, Pettitte, Cano, Chamberlain, Hughes, etc.
Good front office = balancing farm callups with strategic free agent signings and trades.

If it was that easy, what happened the past 8 years?
Having the talent on the field is one thing, but then you have to manage it and have it all come together correctly. It also helps to be lucky, as unexpected injuries can kill a championship season.

And I get sick of watching Sportscenter with the over emphisis on the yanks and bo sox. It goes on and on, like they're the only teams to count.
Sportscenter pisses me off in many ways, all the time. That chris berman gets more annoying with each passing year. I've begun being irritated with most of the talking heads on that show.
Maybe I'm just getting old and grouchy.

I just read about that now, that is really sad
We (UK) lost 5 soldiers in Afghanistan yesterday when a Afghan police man opened fire on them after they had returned from a patrol and put down their weapons and body armour. It has been a bad month for both of our militaries, I hope that their sacrifice is not in vain.
