IMO... If I only trained for like.. what is it? 5 years, until i won my first pro show, I'd be full of myself too.
I'm sure every pro bodybuilder is a little full of themselves.
I think that Heath is just young, so in a way, he's just trying to find his character, which may seem to some people as if he's self-centered.

What on earth makes him full of himself? that interview when he said he could possibly be mr olympia 2009? That was not a stretch AT ALL, if jay came in the way he looked in 08, and heath was ON, he probably would have won.... and yea he was a little cocky at the press conference, before puking his ****ing brains out and loosing everything.
Then again you got tools like freeman ragging on his frame size and how he wont ever get any better and talking about how much more weight freeman has on him and all the other bullsh*t which is absolutely meaningless. If I were in heaths shoes at the press conference I would of said "Maybe if you put on another 20 lbs you might be able to place ahead of me"
I mean its hilarious, all the bigger framed guys, and fans of those guys keep ragging on heaths width, but what they fail to mention is heath is light years beyond ALL of them.
The bottom line is this, heath said he believes its possible to win the olympia this year.... he beat dexter in the finals, he beat kai in the finals, and he was 1 point behind branch in the finals
I think we can agree that heath was more off then kai was... and he still beat him, branch was maxed out, he was full hard and completely shredded... and only 1 point ahead of a very off heath.... he beat dexter... that leaves jay. Heath was still not at his best at the finals, and if he came on, he would have only been 2nd to cutler... and lets be honest, absolutely NO ONE thought cutler would show up the way he did.
So yes, heath was not even slightly arrogant in saying he had a possibility at winning the olympia, because he DID.

^^ All of that is meaningless because he still ended up where he did ...on that particular weekend, the guys who placed ahead of Heath did so for a reason..whether they looked better than him during pre-judging, finals, whatever... but next year is another year. Heath may or may not come in looking the same or better...that will just have to be seen. As well..Kai, Jay, and Branch may or may not come in looking as they did...anyone can make the needed improvements to place a lot better than they did...it all comes down to who makes the most improvements during this offseason and who doesn't, as well as who nails their conditioning come contest day.
To me peronally, Kai looked overall a lot better than Phil both during pre-judging AND finals, even though Heath was feeling better and filled out more. To me Kai beats Phill from the back, is thicker than Phil and looks more complete overall. Both Kai and Phil are guys who are morphing big time from year to year and therefore it will be very interesting to see who places ahead of the other come next year's O.

The scores don't lie.
Replace Heath's scores from predjudging with his scores from the finals, and replace Kai's scores from the finals with his scores from predjudging, and not only does Kai still beat Phil, but he finishes in 2nd.
And Kai was slightly off at prejudging. He was just wayyyyyyyyyyyyyy off at the finals.
And Heath saying he had a chance at winning the O wouldn't have been arrogant if that's what he actually said. Heath saying he is probably the only guy who can be a multiple Mr. O winner and break the all-time record IS ridiculous and arrogant.

i don't see why some people think Heath is cocky. He hasn't ever said anything that's been unrealistic.

yeah it DID get bigger, just look at his front double bi from either pre judging or finals, he never had the best taper in that pose, but it was allmost non existant this year.

How did this thread turn into a rag-on-Heath thread?
Thought it was about Kai's quad...?
