Ok...I'm pissed. More at myself than anyone else but I'm pissed.
Non dairy creamer.
I had no idea that this stuff had so much fat in it. The nutritional facts say there's no fat but I just found out that it isn't true. Here's the thing. For as long as I've been drinking coffee I've been using this stuff like nobody's business. I mean I'm one of those people that you ask, "Would you like a splash of coffee with that cream?"
I really think this might be playing a huge role in why I have, to date, not been able to drop this last bit of fat I've got around my gut. Damn these companies for misleading me and damn me for not looking deeper.
non dairy creamer=fat and the companies that make this crap can go die!

The culprit isn't the fat, it's the calories. There's 10 calories per tsp., and I'm guessing you use 4-5 tsp per cup of coffee, so you're adding 40 - 50 calories per cup of coffee. Drink 3 of those, and you're up to 150 calories that you weren't accounting for, 1000 calories per week, 52000 calories per year = 15 extra pounds per year.

2nded. I always read it was the sugar in it that was bad.
OP - I learned to drink black coffee, you can too

Are you cutting or does it just not fit into your macros?
I'm a heavy whipping cream user here so I'm not sure how much of what is in the non-dairy creamer but I did think they contained transfats.

fat is not your enemy my friend... when I took my 30 day paleo challenge, 30-40 percent of my calories came from fat but I leaned up like nobody's bidnizz...
I'd be more concerned w/sugar and grains...
And even ARTIFICIAL sweeteners.. sure it saves you the calories of sugar but it still induces an insulin response... Anytime you taste something sweet [be it from sugar or a no-calorie sugar substitute] you get a spike in insulin.

I don't use sugar in my coffee but I use a lot of this non dairy creamer stuff...a LOT. I used to use sugar though and boy howdie did I use it. Then I came down with type 2 diabetes. (go figure) Its controlled through exercise and diet and I don't have to take any meds. But I have 2 or 3 cups of coffee a day with a mountain of this creamer in each one. Initially, I didn't think it was bad because the nutritional information says there's no fat. But, apparently, this is a lie. Non diary creamer contains a good amount of partially hydrogenated vegetable oil.
Atropa, I was actually about to start cutting here soon and I was taking a closer look at the diet to see what all needed to go, what could stay, and what I needed to add. Thats when I came across this info.

American food labels can be a little misleading, as long as there is less than 0.5 of a gram of fat, or carbohydrate etc they are permitted to label it as 0, so a good rule of thumb is if it is not a 100% whole food then round up.
I count heavy whipping cream on a round up because it is not technically a whole food.
It is good that your going to look over your diet and see what needs to go but keep in mind the number 1 reason cutting can fail is because people forget to factor in what they can not or will not go without, in your case this may be creamy coffee so work around what you feel you need.

just so long as most of it comes from plant fats [nuts, avocados] and not animal fats.. MOST anyway. Gotta have our marbled steaks once in a while..

kinda meant in moderation too!
sugar free french is half the calories of normal
20 cal per tbsp. I use 1 tbsp and drink 2 cups of coffee a day, so 40 calories. I am not concerned.

Going black might not be enough if you are one of those people who consume caffiene and it triggers your fight or flight response. Google fat and caffiene and you will see studies that show if people are hypersensitive to it, that your body will hold on to fat because it is being stimulated. Not all people, just some...
Again, not all people so it isn't a blanket statement. Someone once posted that you get skinny from the ends. If all you have left is the midsection battle while you are trying to hold on to mucle gains or at least maintain what you have? Welcome to battle. For some of us, there ain't no such thing as 90 day abs...unless we are being shipped off by railcar to a concentration camp.
That stuff is pure garbage. I use half and half instead-my
body knows how to process it since it comes from a natural source.
I agree...and someone else mentioned that plant oils are ok, but most creamers use partially hydrogenated plant (e.g. soybean or cottonseed etc...) but partially hydrogenated is TRANS FAT.
Coze...you might want to try almond milk in it...it's a good source of fat. Or if you just want the milky flavor why not FF milk?

Despite imparting a not particularly vague sense of being repeatedly slapped across the face by raw wet pork chops I found this to be very educational and entertaining. I'm going to be sharing this one with people.

You get used to it, I drink cream in mind right now but when I go to drop body fat % I'll be drinking it black also.
Or you could always switch to tea.
