That's pretty ****ty, definitely write up a rebuttal. I'm not sure why energy drinks have such a high "punishment" for you guys. I heard of a story here that some NPS student took too much caffeine here and I guess he was really sensitive to it and had to be taken to the hospital. Pretty stupid if you ask me. Caffeine pills, really? That's what the Air Force has come to. They give aircrew members "go pills" so they stay awake on flights, yet caffeine pills is a big no no. Someone's got their head up their ass. AETC has gotten increasingly stupider, I'm just glad I'm back as a prior service guy.

They are opening up an ALO career field to any officer. It is pretty much like TACP from what I understand.

You can have ANY degree and become an officer. I know guys with History, English, Psych, or Art degrees that are pilots and navigators, and guys with Engineering degrees who went into Communications and Intelligence. Commissioning source has some to do with it. If you enter ROTC and get an art degree, it's far different than having an Art degree and trying to apply for OTS. Things like Weather Officers, Engineers, Docs, and lawyers require specific degrees. There are also DESIRED degrees for career fields... example: Comm career field wants IT, CompSci, CompEngineering, or Business degrees, but it is not mandatory to have that degree.

doesn't really matter if you have a bad gpa from high school...you have to maintain a 2.0 to stay in ROTC

what up brahs!? So i chambered today...it was pretty damn awesome... had a lot of fun.. Took our block three test... got another hundred on it... That makes me and one other guy in my class with a 100 average... I wonder what they're gonna do as far as distinguished graduate goes... I hope I get it.hopefully it could help me land an AFSOC slot or maybe the aircraft i want... IDK... But you better believe that I will be keeping a 100 average through my 3 level course... Definitely shooting for DG for that.
Anyways whats up guys? ****in loving life right now... can't wait to start flying holy ****!! I want MC130P's at Mildenhall FOR SURE, if not C-17s... We'll see.

I commissioned in 2008, been on active duty for a little over a year now. I went to the University of Missouri- Rolla, heavy in engineering but I was an Information Systems major.

Depends. If you want a scholarship, 1.8-2.5 is too low. However, you can join as a non-scholarship cadet, and provided you maintain a good GPA (3.0 or better), you have a good chance of getting a scholarship your 2nd or 3rd year in. As Kiefer said, minimum is 2.0, but that will close off a lot of competitive jobs for you. Go in and give it your best, keep your grades up, be active in the Corps, and take care of your peers and you will be set.

WTF!!!! So no Monsters, or Rockstar energy drinks?!?!? This is crazy, especially when we hand out strong caffeine "go" pills to pilots so they can stay awake on their flights. Wow. At least they didn't ban coffee.

Oh snap, structures! Good stuff right there (I'm a 3E171: HVAC). Structures has a nice reenlistment bonus too. Welcome to CE. I'll probably see you in my next deployment since we'd be in the same squadron. Their shops always have a couple of chicks working there. Here at my deployment, there is one structures chick actually. Let me know what base you get once you get your orders, especially if it's Travis AFB.

Heh, well good luck, but I think that's just a dream man. Even in my first job school people spread that rumor that "if you get a 100% average you can pick your assignment" and blah blah. Never heard of it happening, if ever. Good luck, but grades will very rarely prove that you deserve to be on a certain aircraft or assignment. Not sure if the Functional you have is as good as ours, but he asked me what assignments I was interested in and aircraft and I got it. Although my second choice assignment, and my first choice aircraft. Aircrew seems to be a lot better about working with their people and making them happy, but needs of the Air Force first. Good luck none the less, and congrats.

lulz I said the same thing. I remember my first tech school, I lived off Rumbas and NoDoz and I wasn't alone. I can't imagine how ****ty my grades would have been if they banned those things for us back then. I had a hard time staying awake while downing 2 nodoz with an energy drink.

I hear you on that one. I scored an 88 on my last PT test, but under the new PT system, I will finally be in the 90s. Sucks for those out of shape skinny folks that got by with their small waists. Now you have to pass every test individually, and that is the fair way to go.

I went through tech school in 97, so I think we only had coffee. I do remember falling asleep in class alot. Good times. And that's what's crazy. Here on deployments or wherever, monsters are consumed by everyone. The bx here sells out pretty quick.

they must present something stateing you cannot have such things, they cant just give you an LOR. There has to be a policy letter somewhere...... ask for the rule stating why you cant take that stuff, so you can become familiar with it and let your friends now.
