I can't stop...
Ever since I got back to school I have been going upwards and just can't stop absolutely gorging myself and not exercising. I'm already up about 21 pounds since school started a little over 2 months ago and I can't seem to find a way to get myself back on the wagon. Would like to know if anyone has experienced this and if so how they were able to overcome it. Appreciate all the help.

You have to decide that you are going to take control of your diet. It sounds like you are eating, because you are stressed out. Choose to not eat because you are stressed. Just allow yourself to get pissed off, and find another outlet for the stress. Working out really helps with stress, and compliments a healthy diet. You have to learn patience, becuase getting into shape and finishing school both take time. It is your choice as far as how much you eat. You are in the habit of eating when you are stressed, so you need to change your habits. It's not as hard as you think it is. You can stop. I was 5 lbs heavier than you at my heaviest, by the way.

You will LAUGH but I put photos of skinny, in shape hot people all over the place. I have Jamie Eason as my screensaver and when you look at all those ripped people every day it makes you motivated. Hey, it's worth a shot for you to try it even if it seems stupid right?

LOL..i thought i was the only one. My wife was like, why are there clippings of guy's abs, chest, arms, etc all over the bathroom and my desk. I told her it motivates me to get off my lazy ass and actually work at something. There's nothing like the visualization of your goals!

Hmm, friends would see this as worrying if I started putting posters of guys abs and pecs everywhere (or maybe shop your head on your goal body ? )... they already say I spend too much time on internet for info on dieting/working out You can as well put a photo of you in bad shape on the fridge or figure how much hours of cardio are needed to burn this pizza calories that is eaten in 5 minutes ...

ya you can
The problem is that your letting the "can't" word consume you....Can't? .... you can if you really want it...the question is how bad do you want to change?...It's up to you....Think about it...then act.....Self

y'know, i REALLY hate this analogy. it sets pple up for eating disorders or exercise bulimia. pple can still eat pizza & be @ maintenance. =S ...however, you can't eat the cookies, too. i mean, you can indulge, but still be real/all about your goals. ex.: i'll let myself have something "bad". but that just means that there'll be less left to eat for my healthy stuff. & i'm fine w/ that. i make the sacrifice to satisfy my craving that day.

Trance__dreamer, you're right but I'm not an extreme I'd take a slice of a pizza and if I want another one I just try to convince me I had enough (using some analogies). It's not a no to everything, as long as I know it fits in my calories it is ok for me to eat chocolate, pizza or else - no worry - it is a matter of moderating myself, it is so easy to binge and temptation is big.

It's what separates the men from the boys, to be honest. 100% dedication, no matter what. I started a full time job in addition to school and started to fall off a bit, but eventually just realized that I have to keep going no matter what the circumstances. What really helped a lot was going to the gym directly after work, as if it were part of my shift. The diet was easy to keep on track because it's more of a mental attitude you have to sustain. In fact the same attitude that helps me focus on school and work help me keep my diet in check. If you can learn self control and mental toughness, you can apply it all over.

If you've been binge eating for two months then you need to do two things. Get your self psychologically back under control and let your stomach shrink down so you don;t feel hingry all the time when you go back to eating on a diet. Pop sych crap and useless pep talk is covered in above posts, here is exactly what to do:
1. For the next three days you are only allowed to have a 2-scoop protein shake mixed with skim milk or water 4 times a day. Pure whey protein is not acceptable for this protocol. You are only allowed to use blended protein or casein for these shakes. No other food. Calorie free beverages are OK. This will let your stomach shrink up and put in a mental "STOP" to the binge-eating. This first major step is KEY in taking back control of yourself. DO NOT FAIL
2. after the initial three days you are allowed to add back in one solid food meal every three days. So on the fourth day you have one food meal and shakes. The 7th day two food meals and shakes, etc. until you are only having one or two shakes a day. make your food meals as clean as possible and fit into your macros. starches and sugars are totally out. meat and veggies only.
IF you stick with this, you will be able to quite rapidly change your eating habits and leave a long-term effect on your behavior. The cravings for crap food and the urge to binge eat will be gone. Both the mental and the physical sources of these destructive behaviors will have been removed during the PSMF week (Yes, it's a PSMF, they work, get over it). I really hope that you try this. It WILL work if you stick with it and you will gain a valuable tool for abruptly ending binges and getting back on track.

21 pounds!!! Imagine if you were hitting up the weights hardcore 5 days a week eating like that! You probly would of packed on a couple pounds of muscle.
You need to REALLY watch how many calories your taking in a day. From what you said your gaining 2.5 pounds a week. If im right thats about 1200 calories above maintenance a day.
Couple tips to get you back on your feet.
-Eat a healthy breakfast
-Keep your metabolism up. try to eat 6 or 7 meals a day. Make them small. 250-400cal range.
-Dont put a dam thing in your mouth 3 hours before you hit the sack.
-Do something physical... every... day...

Thanks for posting this bro because ive been in the same boat for the last two months aswell. put on 15 to 20 of fat and clothes are tight as hell. I ride supermoto and get injured now and then and have to not workout in order to heal. during the healing process I slowly slip into overeating and the weight comes back fast. I'm all or nothing so without being in the gym i lose focus. I am giving up motorcycles for this reason. I am two days back at the program and i feel better and slept better than I have in two months due to the fact I am not stuffed going to bed. Yesterday I did legs back and bis (went light), I felt a better high than any drug ever gave me.
Get back at it Mr RR, IT just gets harder with age, family, work, life's stresses.

On the flip side. I love this method. Most people truly don't understand the effort it takes to burn calories vs how easy it is to consume them. If this analogy creates an eating disorder, then you have deeper problems you need to work on in the first place. When I tell people this, it's not to get them to look at the food as evil and to never touch it again. It's to get them to think about how much they are actually eating. You can enjoy a slice of pizza, but do you really need to eat 3/4 of the whole pizza :P? Everything in moderation right?

I think we all come to this point at some point in time in our training. I have been down this road once or twice myself. A couple of things I do to get back into the swing of things, is I tell myself I am going to workout for 14 days to a strict plan and diet correctly. After the 14 days is over, its almost impossible to stop. Try and make it a habit.
