4 days out from 1st Pro Qualifier
I will be competing in my first Pro Qualifier this Saturday. The NGA American International Championships in Coral Springs, Fl. I thought it would be nice to post some pre show pictures up. I will also follow up with contest pictures and some from a photo shoot I have planned for the 14th with a professional photographer. I always enjoy coming in this section and seeing all the great physiques so this is my contribution.
I train with several methods. I have done pure hypertrophy but found the best success with periodization of several programs. I really like Layne Norton's power\hypertrophy split. I also used Derek Charlebois's Tri-Phase and made some solid gains. Layne does my contest diet and prep work.
These last two are from a few weeks ago.
Fun shot up close

Hey Vance, I am keeping a contest prep journal in Dereks Contest Prep Section and my training journal is in the workout journal section. I have been putting weekly pictures since last year pretty much with trip To the Arnold and other pics as well. I know you are going to bring something new to the stage next time...that's what we gotta keep doing.

I hope your height doesn't hinder your placement. You have a near perfect physique, but as we all know, judges for whatever reason frown upon anyone over 5'11". I will be patiently awaiting your results. Good Luck!

no offense but these are the kind of statements that just tick me off. NEVER tell someone they are going to win or should win or they got it in the bank etc. You NEVER know who is going to show up. Paul looks great and he beat his physique from last time he competed, that's what matters.
/end rant

What the Hell is wrong with telling someone that they are going to win or got it in the bank. Do you think they are all of a sudden going to stop doing what got them where they are cause some poster told them they got it in the bank? That would be retarded. Guys are just giving there opinion on what they see. Relax!

because you never know who is going to show up and it puts expectations on their shoulders and if they don't win makes it all the more disappointing. It's not like i've ever done this or worked with hundreds of people who have done this

Dude... It's just words of encouragement. People express themselves in different ways. Last I checked, in almost every major sport, telling a team or competitor that they/he/she is/are going to win is just a way of pumping them up or encouraging them.
If you feel it's inappropriate stuff for the guy to hear, then talk to your boy on the side and tell him to not let the hype get to him. Encourage him to expect the unexpected. But you don't lash out at people with good intentions.
That being said, I think he should win. That's my ****ing opinion.

didn't lash out at him. I said it was a pet peeve of mine. Never said everyone should have the same opinion as me or that i'm always right. It's just my opinion... supported by the fact that i've done this sort of thing for a while and have been around more competitors that darn near anyone you'll meet
