Help With Workout & Diet Wise To Improve Success

Hey all,
It's been a while and I've got a lot of questions to be answered, so hope you guys can use your knowledge you all have to help me.

I've been a senior this year and just completed high school, during high school I stopped working out to focus on my grades, but I didn't let myself go to waste. Now high school is over for me, I've got all the time in the world to get back into shape and focus on a better, fitter, healthier lifestyle to come.

I want to get back into shape and be athletic as once I was, trouble is I don't know where to start. I don't know what problem to follow or a diet. I'm more motivated to workout then ever so I am motivated but I don't know where to begin. I want to play football again but before I go try out I want to improve my fitness level before I go impress people.

So I was wondering what program should I follow and what diet I should follow ??

I want to go on WSFB III as it's a football based program and you chop and change your exercise, or should I go on mad cow 5x5 just basic exercise. I want to put some cardio in my workout, along with agility, vertical jump & speed workouts, I'm not sure I how this is to be done though??

Diet wise, I was thinking if I averaged 2000 to 2500 and maintain this, this would give me considerable gains and repair and grow my muscles etc.

Just throwing ideas out there,
So can someone please help me, it will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Jase.
