Bench Shirt Choice
Hey everyone,
Went to a couple PL and thought I would buy a bench shirt. There are many choices and i was wondering if someone would recommend a good shirt for a person that has never worn a shirt. I am 6'0 205lbs and my 1RM in bench is 315lbs raw.

In addition to the above reviews, a lot of people find the F6 relatively forgiving and easy to learn.

That review was in there:

Good first shirt, can be tweaked easily to get an easy touch or more support, and there's enough scoop that if you bench with the collar high it won't choke you too much. Not terribly difficult to get on, or mine isn't at least (it is pretty hard to get off though). It's for arched benchers but my arch isn't very big and I do fine with it, so I suppose it's fairly forgiving. Probably not for advanced lifters who can get more out of a Katana, but fine for intermediates and novices (I suppose that depends on your definition of novice and intermediate, which might bear clarifying in the original post).

I started off with a Single Ply Katana, I love it. It was a good starter shirt for me.

since you've never been in a shirt before, do you train with any powerlifters that know their gear and can help you out? if not then you're gonna have to learn all the shirt crap yourself and it'll suck for you to start off with a jacked up shirt.
the katanas are a little too much for people who don't know what they're doing. double denims are pretty good beginner friendly. they've got a wide groove and are very adjustable. single ply metal bash shirts are alright for beginners too because they're got a wide groove.
get a dd that's a little too big for you so you can learn more eaily. you can always take it in afterwards. it'll also last you for years. alot of the poly shirts last six months when they're constantly used, which they should eb when you're getting started with shirts.
you can pick up a good used dd for about $70.
f6's, fury's, and rage's are alright but not my choice for beginner shirts. they're pretty dated and muc better things are available in the same price range. anything lower than them, like a bash, are a waste of money.

NO one PL in my area, so your right... everything will have to be learned by me. Thats why i am HERE At first glance you wouldn't think "pickin' a bench shirt" would be too complicated, but the more I look the more it is..haha.. The WAY i bench, matters, experience matters, goals matter, etc. I don't bench with a huge arch (but i'm working on that) but I do tuck my elbows in (opposite of BB). I touch the bar just right below my nipples. From what I've read I was leaning toward the F6.. would this be a huge mistake?
