My DOMS are lasting a long time
If my DOMS are lasting a long time, and I'm hitting a calorie surplus, does that mean I should fit more protein into my diet?
And by a long time, I mean 3-4 days. Or is that normal?

Lower your intensity for a couple weeks, and gradually step it up. That is the best way not to get severely sore, and be able to workout again the next day, or whatever your split looks like.... Make sure your diet is looking good also. Do some searching around to make sure everything you have set into place is good.

Static streching after working out helps with soreness, or so I've heard.

I killed my legs during my 2nd squat session. For two days after I could barely walk and two more days it was still very noticeable. The next time 2 weeks later I put the same intensity in and barely felt a thing.

why does every bitch about being sore? theres no problem with being sore, **** its the best thing. if your chest is sore for 4 days so what. it just shows you really isolated the muscle and broke it down. theres nothing wrong with that.

Oh, it looks like I shouldn't be so concerned about how long the DOMS are lasting. It doesn't sound like it matters.
Thanks all for the replies! I'd rep ya, but I don't have any rep power. lol
@biglifta91 : I hope it didn't sound as if I was bitchin'. I just want to be careful that what I'm doing isn't 'wrong'.

depends on which muscle the DOMS are lasting long on...when i work out my legs it ususally last 4-5days and doesnt set in until 2 days after my workout,im taking cretine(purplek) and glutamine along w/ protein in my diet, so i doubt its' ur diet, its just prob the way your working out , it may go away in a few weeks

The only parts that hurt me are my lats,Shoulders,Chest,Legs and traps sometimes,
3-4 days is completely normal, they are healing the whole time they are sore,Its the best feeling ever i think.

I love DOMS because it makes me feel like I did something. I'm more sad that I'm rarely able to accomplish it except maybe minor DOMS that I barely feel.

Stretching after and getting enough sleep.
But DOMS is not a sign that it was a good workout. I hardly ever get sore.
If you are sore do not train that muscle group until they are not sore. The soreness is because the muscle is damaged and is being repaired. If you workout while sore you are cause more damage, which is not good.

You'd bitch too if you could hardly walk the day after squats and you had to go to work and carry cases that weigh up to 80lb up and down the stairs = )

After a serious leg session, i get DOMs for about 4-5 days. Which also makes deadlifts a f**ka.
Calories, Sleep and light cardio will reduce the DOMS esp in legs. DOMS for chest can be reduced by swimming but its the sleep and the calories that really help.

It's all good, soreness for extra time is fine.
Also to the gentleman who said don't ever workout while you are sore, it shouldn't really matter if you have given the muscle a minimum of 72 hours of rest. Working out while sore will cause the body to adapt and make DOMS a lot quicker than normal and so cuts down soreness time. This is called the repeated bout effect.

To the person who gave me negative rep on that post, you're a dumbass. Nowhere in my post was I ever complaining. My question was only "do I need more protein?".
Same goes to Sam666. What the hell. Learn to read.
To everyone else, thanks for the great and informative replies! I'd give you rep points, but these dumbasses put me in the red zone, so I can't.
