Wilmington, NC, Whats it like? (srs) (reps)
I'm thinking about transfering to uncw, and living off campus. How is the town and place? Beaches good? How are the people and stuff to do?

Word places are cheap there and my dad is offering to buy a house downthere to live. Are the people down there nice and pretty easy to make some friends. I kinda struggle to make friends quick. Is there southern hospitality or whatever

People tend to be pretty chill around Wilmington itself. Campus may be another story. Just don't act like some poser douche and you should be fine. A warning note though is there are allot of tools at UNCW (been to many parties out there) just like any other university so expect to deal with some childish BS like you would anywhere else.

So it's like a normal place douchebags and normal people. I went to ucsb for a year so I've experiences douchebagary and rich kids everywhere. So it can't be worse than that

Nah it's not worse than that at all. The real upside for me is that the people that are chill are cool as hell. Real down to earth surfer types (pretty much how I am) so it meshes well with me. I'm almost certain you will really like it. Lots of hot chicks during tourist season, and great parties during off season with locals.

Went to UNCW for undergrad and graduate school. Wish I still lived there. Awesome place, chill people, hot girls everywhere, good downtown life. I still visit as often as I can.

OP i graduated from UNCW this past may. The school is growing like crazy, which is a good and bad thing if you were a freshman, but since your transferring its good. We are getting new facilities in just about everything right now. The school is good overall, decent faculty. The school is predominately white and female, hot female. I was in a fraternity(delta tau delta) which had a large portion of maryland kids who are all very laid back surfer kids. Living off campus is great i did it three years out of four, i lived in a house for two years, one right next to campus which wasnt as great as we thought because it still has a large population of elderly people who complain like no other. my senior year i lived in a college style house which was awesome off of wrighstville ave. Most people i know now live on Wrightsville beach which is pretty sweet. You have a great selection of different type of night scene, the beach bars which are grouped right near each other offer a sports bar, a beach type of a bar, a down town style bar, and a night club/bar all within 1 minute walking distance. Downtown offers a bunch of different type of bars/clubs which usually caters to the younger crowd. I miss UNCW and wilmington a lot right now, but like any place its what you make of it, i know people who were miserable at UNCW because they choose to be and were not social. I am glad i joined a fraternity to be honest because it opened a lot of different opportunities for me, but it did get annoying my junior and senior year which is why i slacked with it.

I went to college at UNCW. I really like it there. The campus is a lot bigger now. The beaches are great and all the ladies have to be swimsuit ready. I was there when a few hurricains hit and that was the only downfall. Great school and town

we haven't had a hurricane in like forever lol (knock on wood)
and to OP, yea it's chill down here. A lot of people are nice and stuff but you do get the occasional douchebags. Oh, and watch out for the driving. People down here suck. Seriously. I've almost been hit like 3 times in the past 2 years (defensive driving ftw). Also heard there are lots of drugs down here so be careful. I don't do the downtown/bar scene.

Ya I'm not into whole downtown bars. I just like to go to a party every weekend and chill. I have a dog who loves water so I'm sure going to the beach with him will help me get to know some people
