And it really doesn't matter in an election. Sad, but largely (and obviously) true. I agree that his election was brilliant. They took a 30+yr old Jimmy Carter theme and repackaged it masterfully.

My only problem with a lot of it is that he ignores the theory that the reps put mccain in there as the fall man....in other words they wanted him to lose.
Only watched the first minute or so though.

Odd theory.
Personally, I think McCain would have won if he had stood up and declared the bail out as wrong instead of suspending his campaign to beg Republicans to vote for it.
1) It was horribly unpopular
2) It would have shut up the "McCain = Bush!" comparison
3) It might have covered up the fact he was a stupid old man who had no clue on economic issues

I dunno...
McCain led with his fuking chin from the very beginning. His status as a "war hero" is admirable, but that can only carry anybody so far. I mean look at how well that worked out for John Kerry.
But other than that his whole campaign was based on "I'm a Maverick!" Give me a ****ing break..

Interesting video. These tactics are nothing new though. Only new thing Obama brought to the table was a symbol/logo. It has been done before, but AuH2O does not have the appeal. He is one of many who won on personality, along with Clinton, Reagan, Teddy, and others. The youth vote is nothing new either, his campaign just used it more effectively.
But as we are seeing now, being elected on personality comes back to haunt you and your party.
