Haha, still gets hits apparently. I've kinda been MIA, but I'm getting back into lifting. Glad to see this is still inspiring people
It's not BS - I did blow up. I was obsessed for those 4-5 months though; my entire life pretty much revolved around lifting. I would force myself to sleep 8-9 hours, I'd lift like crazy, I would make a pound of ground beef and 2 bowls of mashed potatoes and eat it all while watching a 2 hour movie. I don't think I had an ounce of alcohol during that time. I was very dedicated. Part of it was genes and me being underweight when I started, but I believe a lot of people can achieve similar results if they make the necessary sacrifices.
Regarding the question about my diet, I drank a lot of whole milk and ate tons of beef & potatoes. That was mostly it, really. Not the best diet by a stretch, but it worked. Most of those were beginner gains as well mind you. I got to 212lbs at one point, but I was kinda fat. The pics you see in my profile are at my best shape at 180lbs, which took almost a year to reach after hitting 212 chunky. It's been a great learning experience though

Hey it doesn't matter if this is a 3 year old thread, the progress still continues to inspire.
The gallon of milk thing I take was simply to get the calories. But the rate of progress is definitely possible considering the circumstance. Gd luck to your future endeavours mate!

The pics on the front page are just Rippetoe. The pics in my profile are about a year after. I never went through a formal cut phase .. I just slowly leaned out cause I got tired of looking fat and buying new clothes.

It's inspiring me too. It's hard to stay focused for all those months, but the gains are worth it. The latest shot shows how good your lats look.

Not my problem. I still gained a decent amount of muscle mass though, probably more than what's typical because they're beginner gains.
For me personally the main achievement wasn't the size but the strength that came with it (aka Starting Strength). My lifts went up over 100lbs each. I think I added like 200lbs to my deadlift. Granted I started out at pathetically low weight, but still - it went up a lot in a very short period of time.
I really just posted this as (hopefully) inspiration for anyone who's considering the Rippetoe program - if you put in the effort and sacrifice you will see some serious results.
@zarin - for that time period, no I don't have any relaxed photos. I wasn't trying to fake anything - I packed on a good deal of fat I admit it. If I had to do it all over again I would have had a much cleaner bulk, but it was still fun

Dude. You are my inspiration. I am starting off as a very weak skinny fat mess (my starting stats are half yours). Hopefully, I can pull off a bulk as successfully as you have.
Do you have any tips/tricks? How much were you eating? Tell me everything you can man, please.

amazing, definitely an inspiration to me. i just hope all the "splits for beginners" fans read this thread. you gained a lot of muscle mass in a short period of time, i think you have good genetics, most beginners can't gain muscle mass this fast. anyway i'm inspired can't wait to finish cutting and start rippetoe's again hope i'll gain at least half of the muscle you gained in those 4 months.

It wasn't all muscle mass obviously (sigh), but anyway. I ate a lot of meat, potatoes, and milk. I went overboard and got a chunky, but it was fun You just gotta eat a lot, train hard (make sure you hit all the workouts) and definitely make sure you get your beauty sleep. Rest is critical.

I'm sold. Good work. Not sure if I will be as dedicated as you were, but maybe! I am already fat, so less risk of about putting on extra lard.
