Should an undefeated Iowa...
Hypothetically of course, should an undefeated Iowa make the NC game over a 1 loss Fla/Bama/Tex/USC?
It's unfortunate, but I'd have to say yes. I understand that it could very likely set up another boring blowout NC title game, but I think they deserve the shot at that point. Now if 2 of Bama, Tex, and Fla are also undefeated, then this isnt even a debate because that will be the NC game, but I dont think two of them will be undefeated.
So what do you think? Do they DESERVE it? Keep in mind im not asking what you'd rather see when you answer this question, because we'd all rather see a better match-up I think.

In that situation, yes they would deserve it.
They would have been 12-0
-beaten 4 tough teams, in very tough places (MSU, PSU, OSU and Wiscy)
-They as of now have one of the highest rated SOS
They don't win pretty, but they win. To penalize them for not having style points is stupid.

Those are tough teams? Hmmm lets see where they sit as of halfway through the season. Penalizing for no style points? See Texas last year. Quit being such an Iowa homer, they are ok.

this is something that won't change, there is a huge gap in how strong their schedule is rated vs the other top teams for some reason

iowa is the most piece of sh!t overrated team in this country. I hope they win out and hopefully theyll meet usc or oregon in the rose and get their oakie-ass teeth knocked in.

It's probably because they didnt play any Div II teams that would drag the SOS down like the others did. Still, Tex/Fla/Bama have all played tougher opponents.
Edit:
Nevermind Texas didnt play any Div II teams. I dont know that SOS makes no sense then.

No, because nobody wants to see Iowa get their ass kicked in a national title game.

I personally don't feel Texas has played a tougher opponent than Penn State to this point, but alot of college football ranking is based on opinion anyways.

They are tough teams, especially at home. Are they great teams? No, but they are good.
Texas lost a game later in the year, if they wouldnt have lost that game and taken care of business they would of been in the title game.
Wins vs OSU, Wiscy, MSU, PSU, Arizona are just as good as wins against TT, MU, OK (Texas)
2 teams in the history of the B10 has won @ MSU, Wiscy, and PSU in the same year, one was '97 Nat Champs Michigan and '09 Iowa. Not saying Iowa is as good as that Michigan team just making a point.
I have never said Iowa is a great or elite team, but if they go 12-0 and those other teams have a loss they should go in above them.

I'll actually partially agree with you on this after looking at the schedules. I'd say it's more even. Ok St is about as good as Penn St. (after they play tonight of course) and OU is about as good as Ohio St. So overall I'd say the schedules are pretty even between the two.

And Utah went undefeated and wasnt given a chance at the NC? Iowa just is not strong enough.

Nope, not what I asked.
Just because you think they will get their ass kicked is not a reason not to let them in. That's why I said don't post an answer because you'd rather see a better matchup. That's not what this thread is about.
Id like a better reason than your speculation of them getting their ass handed to them as to why they should be kept out. You clearly didn't want to (or maybe couldnt) give an actual reason for them to be kept out under the scenario.
Im not arguing with you. You've already been negged. Quit whining or I'll neg you again after I spread.

If you're comparing the 2, I would assume that means you also think the 2008 utes weren't strong enough? I think you'd be wrong.

And they had a good argument to say they should have been, if anything that just makes a case for Iowa.
If Iowa is undefeated they will have done so playing one of the tougher SOS in the nation. Hard to argue against a Texas or USC that have a similar or less SOS and 1 loss. Depending on who Bama or Florida lose to makes a difference to.

They're green dots on an online forum. Neg me all you want. The entire college football system is based on speculation. My reason is that Big 10 teams always get their asses kicked when they go out of conference. Let's be reality, Iowa is barely a top 10 team.

I assume Bama and Florida are only gonna lose to each other because they've got some easy match-ups down the stretch, meaning one of the two will be undefeated.
