Nice, I upped my calories some and things took off. Filled out too and look leaner. gotta love it. should be good for this log as I will likely hit both cutting and bulking cycles.

Great question!
Please realize that RECON is specifically formulated to maximize recovery, from every pathway in the body. (That's why the formula is so loaded). There are a few interesting herbal or ayurvedic agents that focus on immune boosing, health, recovery, healing and cellular health and rejuvenation. The herbal detoxifying blend was included specifically to support immune function, and cellular health and recovery.
We realize that it takes more than just jamming carbs and aminos into the cytoplasm to make a muscle grow. It takes nourishment, revitalization and attention to as many of the various cellular functions as possible.
So, with the insulinogenic/mimetics in the mix, we'll facilitate uptake of all the anabolic and recovery "goodies" in RECON, to take full advantage of the already hungry, hyper-sensitive post-workout cellular environment - the most critical time for replenishment and re-feeding of depleted muscle cells.
CM (citrulline malate) has been shown to contribute to ATP production and to increase PC recovery - a tremendous pre-workout, anti-fatigue agent, but also a very smart recovery additive. (see my good friend, J-Rod's comprehensive review of CM elsewhere in this forum)
Echinacea is a commonly used immune system strengthening herbal agent. We included echinacea and other immune strengthening agents because we know that the immediate post-workout condition, we want the body to use all of it's resources on rebuilding and muscle recovery. A hard-trained, depleted body is arguably more vulnerable to infection - especially when hard-training athletes push the line of over-training...tell me that we all don't walk that line every day?
Dandelion is commonly known as an herbal diuretic, but Chinese medicine recognizes Dandelion primarily for it's liver detoxification and anti-inflammatory properties. Again, post-workout cellular pollutants are a part of the barriers to growth...RECON contains pollutant-scavenging ingredients to provide the most healthy internal environment for recovery possible.
And finally, Bromelain is a natural enzyme that helps us digest protein. However, by this same function, bromelain is used medicinally as an immune-boosting, recovery agent that has been shown to speed wound healing and aid in recovery.
Personally, I can't wait to get my hands on this formula. Let us know what you think!

Great info, Pete.
Sometimes bodybuilders and fitness enthusiasts overlook the role that decreased immunity, pro-inflammatory agents, and cell pollutants actually have on our recovery. Cellular health is equally important as proper post workout supplementation via easily digested PRO/CHO. Sometimes us meatheads need look at the whole picture, not just the parts

Awesome reply. So, it has been mentioned that this could serve as a 1/2 serving intra workout and 1/2 post. Do you see any drawbacks from that?

NO! Actually, I've been doing exactly that with a combination of many products on a regular basis (until RECON!), that include similar carbohydrate blends, and then added my own BCAAs, threw in some insulinogenic goodies, more beta alanine, glutamine, and some cellular drivers/volume expanders as well...and, "whallah!" I had me a cocktail of staggered absorption carbs, that hit me quick at the point in the workout where I was almost outta gas...(one of the cool things about me owning my own supplement store, right next to my gym...lol)
then, as long as I was careful NOT to slam this solution, I'd continue sipping between sets, and holy cow, if I got the formula just right, I'd prolong the pump, swell up a little more, push back my fatigue and functional failure...and holy cow! By the time I was stripped down to my tank top, I had one heck of a crazy situation going on!
Now with RECON available, you don't have to have a counter top full of 5 or 6 different products! Save money, save time! and get it all in 1 drink!
Yep, the only thing I think you'd want to be careful about is actually being sure to NOT drink it all down at once...because a big hit of simples in the middle of an aggressive workout may spike blood sugar but cause a quick drop...so, instead, pace yourself based on feel....and sip or gulp...just train hard, and don't run out..and you'll likely find you can outtrain yourself and honestly - you'll out train all of your training partners too!
and make sure you've got at least 1/2 a serving to recover with...perhaps add another 1/2 scoop of RECON to your immediate post workout drink...you'll love this product, I'm telling you!
Pete

Great feedback Pete. This product has taken over 4 years of rigorous testing and research. This is unlike any other recovery product on the market. If you look at the doses of the BCAA and EAA profiles alone it is twice the dose of the majority of recovery products out there. At MusclePharm we dose all of our products for optimal results, and RECON is another example of the integrity we put into our formulas.
