knee pain

I'm having a really hard time diagnosing my knee pain. Even talked to a PT and my doctor and they were no help.
I've had pain in both knees for years, the pain is mostly when I do the leg ex. and cardio. My quads are pretty strong and it's not an imbalance between tight hams/weak quads (like with runner's knee; speaking of which, no problem when sitting for a long time then standing). I'm thinking missing/damaged cartilage behind the knee, but I'm not sure if there's anything to help with that? I can't afford surgery or phys. therapy and it's not covered.
The pain is on both the left and right sides of each kneecap, but also on the bottom of the knee, and behind the knee cap. No pain at the top of the knee.
It's literally made it so I absolutely can *not* ride a bike, even for 20 seconds. Running can also be painful, as can elliptical machines, but biking is the worst.
I've been searching the net but no matches to my pain's location seem to come up.
Has anyone else experienced this? I would love help fixing this issue.
I've tried all supplements like animal flex, glucosamine, chrondroiten, osteo bi flex, shea flex 70, and so many more I can't remember. Nothing's helped, but if there is a supp. you've tried that worked please let me know, I'm really desperate because I would *love* to get into cycling, and I'm sick of my knees starting to get sore during elliptical/running workouts.

With a condition as serious as you describe supplements seldom work. When it comes to joint injury, supplement can help prevent damage, but really aren't that good at actively repairing existing damage.

What did the medical professionals that you spoke to recommend? You said they were no help, but specifically what was their diagnosis? Also have you tried a chiropractor that uses active release therapy? It is a form of treatment that helps repair soft tissue damage by removing scar tissue and adhesions that prevent your body from healing itself. Www.activerelease.com

So i think you need an X-ray of your knees more likely a CT scan though and even possibly an arthriscope to see whats going on in there and if you need surgery to correct it. I mean its important to know whats happening in there even if you can't afford surgery right now, USA is funny medical system richest country but no free medical like most other countries.
