Sore Calves - Hurts to walk - Stilll workout ?
I stared the beachbody Insanity DVD'S on Tuesday and I decided to workout with no shoes on - just my bare feet on my carpet. Shortly after completing the workout both of my calves were aching. I drank my EXTEND and ate flank steak for dinner to restore protein. The next following hours my calves hurt so bad that it hurts to actually walk anywhere....I look like a grandma walking slowly grabbing onto the wall etc.
I worked out yesturday and again with no shoes... ( stupid idea) my calves were not that sore doing the workout, but now that same pain.
Stiff...sore..and hurts to walk !
Was it from not wearing shoes ?
Can I continue to work out ?
How can I get it to stop hurting so bad ?
thanks !

You are probably walking kind of flat footed right? Do some very light calf stretching, drink 6 oz of tonic water every 5 hours (the quinine will get out the lactic acid) and workout something that doesnt involve your calves in anyway. Hope that helps.

Just gently stretch your calves out. Hold the stretch for about twenty seconds (or as long as you can without it getting too painful) and repeat with each leg three times. Massage your calves after--gently--drink a lot of water to flush out your system and all should be well--your body will eventually get used to the added stress.

Light workouts are good for relieving delayed onset muscle soreness, although the first few minutes are sort of painful. Just take it slow, go for a jog or something.
