2 questions about MMA (NOT WORKOUT RELATED)

Ok so first.. i had my first muah thai session tonight and i was wondering if it is normal to feel like complete **** after it haha. like it was fundamentals but i feel like i wasnt totally getting it down (ive never done martial arts or boxing).

second, the deal i have is for muah thai, ju jitzu, boxing, and wrestling (forgive the spelling). I was thinking ill take it slows and spend the first couple weeks totally on muah thai before i mix it up, i want to get the fundamentals and the basics down before i combine it with another style. Is this a good idea?

First, yea its normal to feel like you've been beat up following your first muay thai class. You'll probably hate walking tomorrow.

Second, thats kind of a good idea but I think you would have more success if you started with boxing first if you want to work more on striking. Its a lot more simple to grasp than muay thai and you don't really run that much of a risk of getting hurt in boxing training as you don't have to be sparring to learn boxing. Whereas in muay thai training there really isn't much of a way around not kicking or kneeing eachother.

I'd personally go with wrestling first. Its fun, easy to grasp and you can definitely improve your conditioning with wrestling. Big issues with it is that its hard on the knees. Jui Jutsu is much more advanced than wrestling with its submissions, plus it takes some time to get used to the Gi when grappling.

Overall it doesn't really matter what you decide to do first, whatever you think will be the most fun and most beneficial. Personally, I got tired of getting beaten up every night in muay thai, but it'll make you tough.
