Man am I stiff today! My back is like a straight board! Other than that the recovery is coming along slowly but surely, as recovery goes...
How are all of you guys doing these days? Tell me some training stories: tell me about the best workout you've had in the last 3 months and why it was the best!!!

I had a really intense week of training. I found a "2 a day" program in Flex magazine and it really kicked my ass. Not something I can do all the time but maybe one week a month. Strength increased across the board, mostly noticed it on Shoulder press and Lat Pulldowns, just kept adding the weight it was awesome and fun!! Now I am hungry all the time, eating more food than usual, mmmm flank steak!!
My Tricep tendon is paying the price though, pretty painful to fully extend my right arm - have to keep icing it.

As for me, currently, I'm somewhat more back on track in terms of getting my strength back up. I'm on a low volume routine done only 2x weekly, nothing intense and all in all just a "slow builder" as allowed by my therapist's office.
Eating's been messed up of course just because of really needing to budget down my money right now, but I'm still maintaining, just losing bodyfat here and there...
I cannot wait until this whole injury thing is behind me and I can look back and say "remember when".

Hells yeah..I just started again... loving the doms...but I still want more. I'll be modifying my routine a bit, but the burn, the pain, the solidity of muscle is just such an awesome feeling!!
As for eating, holy crap I have never felt so "fat", or full....but I've heard a million times...you gotta eat to grow. I just never ate like this before, somewhere near 4500 cals daily. Not much compared to The Beastman himself, JS..but to go from 2100 or so to 4500 is a hell of a jump..

Double? Does it count that you're not in full swing though? I thought you were downing closer to 7500 when on track... Oh well. Even after 4 days, I see some growth..both where I want, and where I don't want. I've been neglecting my abs 100%, and that needs to stop. I was planning on doing sets of incline crunches in the morning, but I'm so friggen tired when I do crawl out of bed, I just down a Pro Nos shake, shower, cook, eat and go to work...maybe I'll throw them in at the end of each workout.. I need to keep control of my already damn big gut...

7500?!?!?! Dude for weeks before the show I was at 10,000 a day haha!!!!
As for you and a gut just watch the sodium intake as well as the sugars intake, and go from there.... I find when I eat more sugars I gain more fat, but when I eat a lot of fat and little or almost no sugars I don't gain any fat...

10,000?!?! wow. Then again, you are 4 or 5 inches taller too...
As for the gut, I've pretty much cut all sugars out..no candy, no sweets. Just solid food, and lots of it...I'm probably eating more carbs than anything...maybe I'll try to push more towards Keto again and up the fats. Eating bacon everyday was F'ing awesome...not that it's the right fat, but it's still awesome. Most of the sugar comes from my beer addiction, which is hard to kick seeing I brew my own and currently have 10 gallons fresh on tap...weekends only though, never after a lifting session.

thought I would post the progress info here as well, since you got us started on the Hatfield routine. Here's the progress after 4 weeks (to be kept in mind that I was using the zig-zag recomp style diet).
Bodystats
Chest: 41 (start) --> 41 1/2 (after 4 weeks) gain 0.5 inches.
Arms: 14 7/8 (start) --> 15 1/8 (after 4 weeks) gain 0.25 inches.
Waist: 32 (start) --> 31.5 (after 4 weeks) loss 0.5 inches.
Weight: 180 (start) --> 181 (after 4 weeks) gain 1 lb.
Lifting stats
Squats: 265 x 5 --> 275 x 5 gain 10 lbs.
Military Press: 130 x 5 --> 135 x 5 gain 5 lbs.
Barbell curls: 85 x 5 --> 90 x 5 gain 5 lbs.
Barbell rows: 160 x 5 --> 165 x 5 gain 5 lbs.
Weighted dips: BW+30 x 5 --> BW+40 x 5 --> gain 10 lbs
Close-grip bench press: 145 x 5 --> 150 x 5 gain 5 lbs
should mention that I was a bit apprehensive about the high volume, so I started at weights quite a bit below my maxes. Dips and squats apart all the maxes were towards the end of the 4 week phase, and apart from military press and BB curl, none of the other weights needs to be re-set either, i.e. the max weight in the last sessions felt easy.

thanks man. sure am glad that Justin brought up this routine on this forum.
Always fared badly on high volume routines, starting to feel tired and drained out at the end of 2 weeks, but now 4 weeks down the line, I still feel fresh, am making gains, and the key difference between this and other high volume routines I had tried (and failed) earlier is ... PERIODIZATION.

Beer will do that to ya...
