Sounds like you guys who don't squat and deadlift on the same day have seperate days for squats and/or deadlifts where that's all you do.

I personally like to have a day just for biceps.

I personally like to have a day where I don't lift. Basically what happens is that I just don't go to the gym that day.

Rippetoe's and Madcow's programs both advocate squat and deadlifts on the same day. Like chaddukes said it just depends on your strength level/experience.

Would it be a good idea to do squats and sldl on one day and regular deadlifts on another day

Yes.

I personally do RDL or SLDL with my ham workout, on leg day and conventional deadlifts on back day.
