Nice, I'm a fan of the armbar off the standing triangle attempt. Its fairly solid.
Also, if I didn't know better I'd say you were crushing on your training partner.. But then again, so am I, you made him sound so dreamy.

Have you accidentally upkicked anyone while grappling yet? People transitioning from straight kickboxing tend to do that to my face all the time.

I do that **** all the time. It trains them to be men.
Also, look into oil checking. It will take your BJJ to another level.

Seriously I'm in love with BJJ. Dunno if it's because I took a few privates before, but when I tried it before I just didn't like it now I'm hooked.

October 6
Diet -
Pretty good, over 250g of carbs is always full of win to give me a good workout !!!
Training -
Muay Thai
Paired up with a really cool girl, pretty experienced from what I've seen. We worked on a few combos, mostly the same thing we did Monday night but with different in/out/explosion. Finished with some sparring (only blocking/avoiding) and I went totally Machida-style on her.
BJJ (no Gi)
Really fun class tonight but my right shin has been bothering me since last Friday (and I got a nice kneecap vs. shin during tonight MT class as well). There was the tiny cheerleader here tonight so I paired up with her for the technique part. We did the regular warmup, then worked on different clinching and TD techniques and then we practices knee on belly transition and mobility drills.
The main thing we then worked on was how to get a kimura from knee on belly (when the opponent start shrimping and pushing on your knee), then later transitioning and changing grip to a straight armbar.
I rolled for about 45 minutes at the end and opened up my opponent's head (a guy really cool, I felt awful). He actually cut himself on my banged up shin that's totally razor-blading everything it touches (no kidding, it's got a bad alien look) when I transitioned from an armbar from the bottom to a triangle.
Rolling was fun and I showed him 3 different kimuras from side control (my favorite place to be). Didn't get any submission tonight but it's fine, everything was really smooth and I was trying new moves whenever I could. I left because my shin was killing me and I couldn't continue properly.
Total time = 2h45 tonight.
Note -
Training tomorrow shall be painful

That shin sounds nasty- you tried any ice on it?? Is the pain anything similar to shin splints; as in, is it the kind of injury that you need to rest (as in muscle pain) or is it like bruising and cuts?

Update
OK so the bulk is going well ut I find it friggin hard. I mean, I'm downing about 2800 calories per day right now... Also, switched up to a body part split (it's like... the 3rd time in my life loll but I have the opportunity to train a lot in the gym and it's going well with th ebulk and it gives my CSN a break). Went to the doc this weekend to check on the leg because I couldn't stand it anymore. Got a bad stress fracture and a part of my right shin is chipped
He said only advice is if in pain... STOP !
I know I've been slacking with the logging but I'm just so damn busy... here's what my routine has been looking like lately (and it should remain like that until the end of December) :
Monday - weight lifting, MT, BJJ (with gi)
Tuesday - weight lifting, MT, MMA (sparring, wrestling)
Wednesday - weight lifting (optional), MT, BJJ (no gi)
Thursday - weight lifting - might take the night off most of the time but if not it's MT and MMA circuit training
Friday - private class and open training or off
Saturday - MT, BJJ (with gi)
Sunday - off

Yeah it's pretty good
BTW weight went from 136 to 144 in the past 3 weeks it's pretty good, I guess 3-4 lbs of water/glycogen. I'm getting stronger for sure... was warming up for low rack pulls with 185x15 and finished with 265x3x3.

Hey Val, back again
Busy looking week you've got there, no idea how you manage it on top of studying and whatnot. Unless you manage to freeze time...now THAT would be some neat trick

Pretty good, I'd say around 180g of protein, 300g of carbs and 80g of fat. Bulking FTW
Training -
Back/Traps
A. Rack Pulls (mid-shin) 157x10, 179x8, 201x6, 221x5
B. Bent-Over BB Rows 77x12x3, 87x8x2
C1. DB Shrugs 65x8x4

D. HS Horizontal Seated Rows (close grip) 45x25, 60x20, 75x15, 90x8

For those who don't know me ( ), my name is Valerie. I'm 21 and I'm studying Political science at the University of Montreal. I also work in a gym as a supp rep (nothing to do with that here, on BBing.com).
My goals for this summer are to stay injuries-free, to get leaner and to improve my conditioning. Strength is really important for me, and I wouldn't jeopardize the quality of my workouts to simply lose weight or become a world class runner.
Here are some basic goals I have :
- Get down to 132 lbs so I can eventually compete in the 60 kg weight class.
- Deadlifts : 2x BW
- Squats : 1.5x BW
- Bench : 1x BW
These aren't impressive numbers but I know it's a start. So far, my 1RM are 225/165/125 @ 155 lbs and before I had some physical problems/injuries (will talk about that eventually).
:::: Past injuries ::::
Left knee, left hip, right shoulders, RC (right side), head problems (trauma + concussions... CNS tends to get fried quickly and easily. Will share more about that later).
:::: Routine ::::
I'm going to go back on a 5x5 routine. Made good gains with it last year but I'm afraid I'm starting with 1RM that are much lower and weaker this time. As long as I'm improve, I'm okay and happy with the numbers, even if they're conservative for now.
Cardio will be done on non-training days and will consist of HIIT followed by some cool-down on the elliptical machine.
:::: Diet ::::
I try to eat three solid meals a day with balanced proten/fat/carbs. I usually train early in the morning so I take some whey blend + fruits pre-workout and WPI + Gatorade powder PWO in addition to these three meals.
Well, I guess that's it

I think conquering yourself basically involves you just making the exersisez a habit. They say it takes 31 days to build and cement a habit into your personality.
