Let's see if I can catch everyone up.. Papa is not doing very well we had orginally thought he would have maybe several months left to live .. he seamed to be doing better for a while, but then he went down hill very quickly.
Thursday I called paramedics and took him to the hospital for a blood transfusion. Prob not the right choice. Basically all it did was give him a little more time, but it want be good time. Before we went in he was in extreme discomfort and miserable for days and now that I've given him the transfusion he will have to suffer through that all over agin. The bone cancer is shutting down his body fucntion.
But I belive he's coming back home today and I don't think he'll be leaving agin. We have one appointment with a oncologist on Monday to see if they can help in any way but I'm not holding out any hope for that. I mean it's not like he has one problem.. even if they could do anything about the cancer he's functioning off 15 to 20 % of his heart functioning. He's just so week at this point I don't see them being able to do anything other then extend the misery he's in and he doesn't want that. He just wants to come home for the time he has left. I honestly don't belive that to be very long.
I've been fighting to bring back to OK with me but I don't think he will get strong enough for that. If I had not had done the blood transfusion he would have died a few days ago and it's not taking that well..

Hi Gracie,
I just read Oct 17th update... Lots in your plate girl.. You did what you did from the heart. Had I been in your situation, you can bet that I would not have done things any differently.
Sending you lots of love and strength.
You've got my cell as well. Call if you need to talk.

Thanks babe!
And just to share a little through all of this papa has maintained a good sense of humour!! HAHA First of all anytime a doc or nurse comes around he shuts his hearing aide off ,, so they have to yell to communicate with him!
Then the other day when he was at the hospital it was late and he was just resting .. I was sleepinging.. anyway..This young girl I guess she was an aide or something comes by to check on him and he was so laying so still I think the girl thought he was dead!! LOL She keep tip toeing up to his bed till she got right beside him,, she leaned over to look at his face .. and he goes, " Hey sweetheart! How are you doing?" LMAO! She took off out that room so fast she damn near ran into the door!!
Then on another day we were at the hospital and a doc goes in and asked (or yelled) papa how he was doing.. and he lets out this really big fart!! and says to the doc.. "I'm doing ****ty! I have cancer! How the hell are you?" then he looks at me goes.. " WTH do these people keep asking me that for? What they think I'm gonna sit up one day and say great!! I always wanted cancer it sounds like so much fun!" LOL He's such a smart ass sometimes!

LMAO!! He sounds like a riot! Your description is so funny. The general situation is sad to say the least but his behavior make me laugh.
It's nice that he has that light-hearten spirit despite his terminal cancer. I hope that his pain is lessened somehow and that he lives out the rest of his available time in the best spirit possible.
Wishing you a good day.

Well he was quite a character, that's for sure. He wasn't my father but I did love him like a dad, without a doubt he was the closet thing to a father I've ever had.
He died last night in his own bed, where he wanted to be. It was the only thing he ever asked of me and he didn't have really have to ask. I've been with him since his heart attack, in the hospital and out. It's only been about a week since we learned he had cancer so there wasn't much time. I was the one who told him he was dieing, I was with him and took care of him all the way through to the end. It was one of the hardest things I've ever done. But I'm glad I could give him this??? I don't even know what to say about it all right now.. to anyone.
I sorta feel like ... there"s this bubble I'm stuck in separating me from the rest of the world. Like I don't even know what to say to people when they talk to me.. I don't know how to even begin to digest the last few days.
I think it's one thing to care for someone you love when death is something in the future but when you reach those last few days or even hours,, when you can actually see them dieing .. it's different. Maybe I can explain it some time in the future.. right now I just feel like .. IDK shock maybe..
I feel like everyone around me is thinking why doesn't she say something or cry or IDK.. but uhmm I just sorta feel blank at the moment like I cann't digest everything at the moment.
I think when you care for someone that's dieing and there sick.. you have to find some where to keep everything you feel it this little box,, because the person your caring for needs more then physical care, they need strength and reassurance and a sense that someone is protecting them because they themselves have no control and they're scared. So you have to set aside alot of your own feelings. You have to put them somewhere ,, where they just build and build and now that he's gonna,, I have so many that I'm afraid or maybe I just don't know how to let that out. LOL ,, so I guess I have this over stuffed box of emotions just waiting to explode!

Stay strong now for the rest of your family.
But when you are back home and safe and back to 'normal', let it out. Have a cry or 2 or 4.
You did a great thing being there for him.

Stay strong u will know when the right time to let go comes.I went threw this with both my grandmothers. One was taken by cancer pretty quick the other lost a long drawn out battle after a stroke, the second took a long time to deal with. Don't try to decide how u feel just feel.

Hey Sweetie. I am so sorry for your loss. I understand your feelings of shock...with me when my Mom passed away over a year ago. It was shock, sadness and relief. I felt guilty for feeling relieved but happy for her that her pain and suffering were gone. I still feel like I could have or should have done more. I am so glad that he had you there with him all this time Sweetie. Try not to worry that people think you should feel or act a certain way. Everyone deals with life and death differently. And we are sad when they are gone but happy for them to move on to a better place.
Love and Hugs
