Thoughts on Fat Burners

So I have been eating right and working out 4 times a week for the last 2.5 months and have lost 10 lbs and 5% bf. Happy with that! I like to do things naturally and don't do diet pills and try to eat clean/ natural food as much as possible.

Wondering what you ladies think of fat burners. I saw some things about them here on the super site and wanted an unbiased opinion. Do they work? Are they safe? Side effects?

Thanks in advance!

i think this is diff from individual to individual. i've tried a couple of brands while trying to cut.
i can tell u my body got used to them in 3 days. i'm not sure at all if i got any benefit from them...honestly, the only i would purchase them for my next cut is for the extra energy on those hard diet days...

they also made me really hungry which kinda made things harder...hah...

bottom line, i'd stick to good diet and hard training.

hope that helps.

I found that Reline cut my appetite....which I need to eat more, not less....so I only use coffee in the morning and green tea in the afternoon now with an occasional Shotgun.

No need to go spending your $$. I prefer a solid diet and consistency in my training program...no magic pill is going to do this for you...

Awesome work so far, congrats!

Great work on the progress, OP!

I don't honestly believe that fat burners burn fat. What they do for me is kind of off-set the side effects of dieting. Dieting makes you hungry-- some fatburners have appetite supressents. Dieting lowers your energy-- fat burners are stimulants. Dieting can mess with your mood-- some fat burners can give you a mild euphoria. Also some "fat burners" contain a mild diuretic which gives you some weight and inch loss up front for motivation.

I took a fat burner while dieting for a figure competition. For me, the major benefit was the focus and energy from the caffeine since I was training hard on very few calories.
They serve a purpose, but I wouldn't bother if I was just trying to be healthy and fit. I think you will do just as well with exercise and proper nutrition.

I tried a fat burner once..Mitotropin. My appetite soared through the roof and I found myself craving more and more carbs..it was like having a PMS appetite all month long. I'm not sure what was in it that did this to me. That was the only side effect I had with it. It did not work for me at all. Of course, the effects of fat burners vary for each individual. I find on days where I need a getmeup, a simple Caffiene pill with 200mg of Caffiene works wonders. It also suppresses my appetite. You can buy a bottle of 90 tabs at Walmart for $3.

Thanks for the info. I think I will stick to diet and exercise. Although I like the caffeine tip. I currently drink some in the am and notice my morning workouts are so much better than my afternoon ones. Maybe I will have a cup of coffee with lunch on those days that I have an afternoon workout.

Really is different for everyone. I do really like animal cuts during cutting to increase my energy levels. However, I do have some friends who take them everyday and can not workout without them. This is sad. So, if you do decide to take one I would advize you to not take 7 days per week and for sure do more research before taking them. On another note- CONGRATS on your success so far!!

Coffee works well, just remember that caffeine is an appetite suppressant. Tea is another option of course, less caffeine but it still works.

From what I know, huge amounts of caffeine won't help you any more than small amounts so there's no need to drink 8 cups a day.

I have tried some really hardcore fat burners, and yeah they gave me energy, but I struggle with water retention (I drink plenty of water, and eat minimal salt... I think some of it has to do with coming from a cross country background) and what has been working best for me is the "Be-HOT exercise enhancing turbo-pack" from GNC.
It has all sorts of natural goodness in it, it helps regulate my water weight and it doesn't give you any kind of jitters when you take it or keep you up at night.

It's my favorite because it feels more like taking a multivitamin then taking a fat burner... and like I said it really helps with the water weight. The other fat burners I have taken were too strongs and the other water regulating supplements I was taking were also too strong, and this is just right for me... a good combo of both

All depends on the person, the fat burber and what is expected. I have learned it all comes into play: diet, exercise and what I take. I have tried a few different ones, and find my favorite one to be Clen. I also am hitting the gym 6 days a week and am on a Keto diet, so my body fat is going down without muscle loss...which was my main concern. I did lose about 8 pounds this last week....and sometimes I do not lose at all. Our bodies are a trip sometimes. Are fat burners safe? Tough call. How is your health? Side effects? Varies. I was lucky and had minimal ones. And I did let my doctor know what I was doing ahead of time to be safe.

I heard that fatburners are not a good idea to take due to the fact that they mess with your thyroid. They stimulate the thyroid to produce more thyroxin which in turn boosts your metabolism. But your body can become so dependent in them that once you are off the pill your body will no long produce its own thyroxin. There are, however, some natural ones that only affect the hGH which I believe is more safe. I'm not 100% on where you would get those though.

I am currently using Dialene 4X, I like it very subtle not very strong at all, I dont take them all the time, started for about 4 mo then off then back on about 6 mo later. Not noticing my body getting used to them. Thought I would try them again to see if I noticed a difference.

Good luck everyone!!
