1st figure comp and have questions
Hi All! Im 7 weeks out from my first figure comp. and I had a Coach up until a few days ago and she pretty much bailed on me.. So I need to take some initiative and figure some stuff out on my own..
Thats where I turn to you all who have been there and done that...
This is going to sound so stupid but....Am I supposed to shave my body hair for the show (arms and such)?
If i go to a place that does the airbrush tan and can get a few coats on top of my already good tan is that enough? ( i would do a trial run of course)?
Lastley..Do i need to do artificial nails?
So much appreciation for your help..im feeling a bit overwhelmed on top of worrying if I will be lean enough in time...!

No question is a stupid question..well almost..lol!
I didn't shave, although I know a lot of girls do..so I think it is totally what you are comfortable with.
I would recommend competition color. You really get washed out on stage..no matter how dark you think you are to start with. You don't want to blow it on color..that you can control!!
I would go with artificial nails. I popped on Broadway nails the day before. You will look more polished.
And I think fake lashes are DEFINITELY worth the time and effort!!
Good luck with your competition!!!

most figure women get fake nails. just like crystal bracelets and earrings it polishes off the look.

Yes, competition color is a must. I would suggest checking to see if they have a designated spray tanning company who will be providing services. It is a personal choice if you want to do it yourself or use their services... I prefer it because it's one less thing I have to worry about.
Shaving body hair is a personal choice as someone else mentioned. I did hear one judge suggest it as she stated depending on hair "type" it can be seen on stage.
I wouldn't think false nails are needed unless it makes YOU feel better. Most girls get manicures but for my last show I didn't even paint my nails and took 1st.
Good luck!

Competition color is a must. The lights will completely wash you out. Trust me, you can never be dark enough for the stage.
Shaving all body hair is a personal choice. (I don't)
Makeup and jewelry absolutely, but the fake nails and fake eyelashes not needed.

Honestly as far as the nails and eyelashes, absolutely it is up to you. I agree they are not necessary, but they do look polished and take next to no effort or $$.
My nails are so short and I just like the way my hands are elongated by the nails. While I know they are not judging my hands, I just feel more confident when I feel more polished. Same thing for the eyelashes. I know several girls who have competed with and without and while it is not a big deal, they simply like the dramatic look they give. I have only gone on stage with the eyelashes, again because it makes me feel good.
Color can make a difference in placing while I agree the lashes and nails probably will not. Totally a personal choice. Hope that helps.
Have a nice weekend all!

Yes. Your body hair, even if it's blonde like mine, catches the light on the stage and can blur your lines.

No. Competition color is a whole lot darker than your local Mystic Tan. If the show you are planning doesn't have a tanning company offering spray on site, get yourself some Jan Tana color.

I always have done french tips, and it's pretty standard practice.
