hard boiled eggs. can you peel em?

i can usually peel the shell off in 1,2,or 3 pieces.




my gf makes a huge mess, leaving hundreds (or dozens) of small pieces littered in the sink.
oh yeah, she peels her eggs in the sink because she makes so many little pieces that the egg gets covered inthem and she has to wash them off cause there are too many to pull off.




how do you do it?


i usually wack the blunt end (where the air pocket is) and peel back with my palm.

I usually squeeze it in my hands and twist it in the middle and usually get 2 pieces

Yeah...I'm in the same boat as your gf. I always do mine over the sink and wash them off.

just add salt to the water and it will come out easy

wait until they cool down, or run them under cold water, then tap it lightly to crack it and roll it in your hands cracking the shell into a bunch of tiny pieces, then it peels off in one big piece because of the thin membrane under the shell

Once they're done boiling throw them in a pot of ice water for a little while. It shrinks the membrane away from the shell and when it peel them they just sort of unravel off of the egg white.

i usually refrigerate them for hours and eat them when theyre nice n cold.

This. I used to keep them in big chunks, but now I compost all my food scraps, and this method makes for faster decomp.

Once in a while, I'll get one where the membrane sticks to the egg at the thick ends and either makes a mess or pulls a chunk of the white off with it. I always rinse after peeling regardless though. Not sure why, I think I got a piece of shell once as a kid and it just became habit.
