so no training at all including no cardio? why are you taking a week off, is it just for some extra rest? if you eat 3500 to bulk and your not training, you may want to eat only 100-200 cals above maintenance so that you don't gain much BF during the week off. In other words if your maintenance is 3000, on your week off i'd probs suggest 3100 to 3200 cals since your not training but are still on a bulk. i think you can also eat at maintenance level but i'm not 2 sure so if someone can correct me on this, please do so. also eat as clean as possible and yes have enough protein each day to preserve mass etc.
hope this helps =]

Don't take a week off, if you find you need to rest because you aren't recovering fast enough, either eat more and keep training of pull the training back a bit.

i'd say a week off after 8 months would be o.k, but then again thats just me. i'd also suggest that if you feel that you need some rest, do it coz it'll probs do more good than harm imo.

eat for your needs for that week
focus on eating every 2-3 hours or so
whole foods
protein and greens with EACH feeding
no useless calories from juice, soft drinks
if you do that you'll rock and good for you for taking a week off.
a back off week at 4,6,8 or 12 - as you get to know yourself you'll know what works best for you but before then each 4 or 6 weeks is a great idea.

I'm taking a week off due to work, but also due to injury as I hurt my left knee cap during a heavy squat. Hopefully the pain will go after a week or I am totally F#$ED
