I train 6 days a week and with a fight on the horizon this is gonna be stepped up a gear.
I wake up at 6 get to the gym for 8 - I have an hour to myself to contemplate what I need to be doing. Get my head focused. I practice some moves (stand up naturally) and gear up for some hard grafting (sp)

Most of those would work against whitebelts and various other people who have no base and are prone to do dumb **** (ie. the back escape to d'arce, putting your arms straight up in knee on belly to get d'arced).
The stack pass to d'arce works, though. I saw it first on Guillerme Mendes's video set and have been using it occasionally.

So I trained at my buddies school today for 2 hours of open mat. Holy **** was I getting gassed. Taking 1 month off plus drinking the night before equals bad stuff. That said I did fairly well and didn't lose any flexibility which is surprising. Also, my triangle game is getting sick. The instructor told me that I was definitely a blue belt and he doesn't get why I haven't been promoted so that felt kinda good man.

You should switch gyms so you can become a blue belt.

So switch gyms, become a blue belt, then leave the gym and go back to my original gym as a blue. That wouldn't piss anyone off haha.

I'd say its fairly balanced. I'd say my guard is much better than my top game, though.
You think the only reason you're not a blue is because of your showings in comps?
I hope i can be good enough to get my blue belt by August. I think once i add wrestling and Judo to my game, i will accelerate my progress.
Also, is it expected to go up 3-5 lbs after a carb refeed?

I have no idea man. Last comp I place 3rd in gi and no-gi, and a kid thats NEVER placed recently got promoted to blue.
Yeah I usually go up about 5lbs or more.
Maybe your instructor just dislikes you?
I think i went up like 7lbs and it was a moderate carb up. Some pasta, bread, a lot of hummus. Stuff like that.

I am actually determined to reach my goals this time.
Gonna get to 180/175lbs, hopefully sub 10BF% and then stay like that for a couple of months then i will bulk (maybe).

And it has contributed to trapz? And overall back development, of course?
Maybe. Not to toot my own horn but I've had decent traps for a while. I developed them from doing super heavy shrugs for like 3-5 reps. That said, I haven't done heavy shrugs consistently for literally 2 years and I still have better traps than most. My point is, I've done things like hang cleans in the mean time, so maybe they helped keep some mass there. But nothing beats good ole fashion shrugs with 500lbs for getting huge traps.
I hit a new sub today. From north/south with your opponent on their back you reach under their head, get your armpit under their chin and on their neck and grab the wrist of the arm under their neck and lift. Coach calls it the Papa choke because he learned it from Matt Serra's dad, who they call Papa I guess.
