Proud of myself

I squated 40kg today. I didn't thought I could do that, but I went to the gym and said let's make the warm-up with the 20kg bar this time. And it was so easyyyyy...So I said to myself, if I can warm up with 20kg then I can go 5kg higher. So I put 20 kg plates on the bar and squated. 1 set of 10 and 2 sets of 8, ATG. I couldn't believe it, 1 month and a half after joining the gym I was squating 40 kg. Can't wait to up the weight again.
I also deadlifted 41kg, but I messed up a little there, as I lost my grip after 6 reps on the first set, and then I thought I couldn't do more than 8 on the second one and stopped. At the third set I said, common, you can do it and pushed to 10 reps. Well, I was very shaky afterward, but i did it .
And after all that I did step ups with 5kg dumbbells and leg press and finally I started to feel something in the glutes. So if tomorrow evening I don't have a sore a$$ I will be very pissed.
But today I am proud .

Good for you!! You've inspired me now - I'm up to 35kgs squatting but have been scared of those big 20kg plates but I'm going to go for it on my leg day tomorrow. Well done!

I'm proud of you too!! ATG too - that's great!
So you don't lose your grip on the deadlift again next time, if you don't use chalk, start using plenty of chalk on your hands to stop sweaty hands from making the bar slippery.
If you do use chalk, but still lost grip, start using a set of powerful hand grippers. As your numbers on the deadlift go up and you are not using straps to lift, you will need a strong grip to stop your forearms tiring before your back and glutes. Check out either the Captains of Crush series or the Heavy Grips series. Once you start closing some of the big grippers for reps, that bar won't be going anywhere! It will build up your forearms a little too.

Very cool! I couldn't even do 20 when I started last year. I finally got to the point last week where I can squat 85kg, so officially more than my body weight......I haven't been able to do any leg/glute work since last Monday's leg day though, seriously sore! We have stairs at work so every time I went down to our kitchen for more water, you could here "ow ow ow ow ow" on the way down and up again!
