So... I just got home from pre-judging. I don't want to say too much, as I'll let Oak tell his own story. I will say that he did really well and looked very good. I'm certainly not an expert in calling these things but I believe he will be a major player in the overall. It took quite a long time before he could actually get on stage. There was a late start and it went very slowly. He got up there about an hour and a half after they originally told him. Unfortunately, he won't have time to go home and post pics or updates before the evening show.
I'm looking forward to seeing how it goes tonight.

Thanks guys for all the kind words......I really appreciate them. I'll update now quickly and then come back tomorrow with pics at some point.....its really late and im not feeling very well after a little "episode" following the post show meal.
I won the open middle weight class and lost by a split decision for the overall pro-card. It was a really tough group. Of course the lightweight was SHREDDED.....like beyond shredded and the heavy weight was HUGE. I was in the middle.....not as shredded as the light and not as huge as the heavy. I got one or two votes for first (the judge I talked to couldnt remember exactly) and the the winner got 3 votes for first. So, it was close. According to the judges I had the best balance and musculature on the stage, but my conditioning wasnt to the level of the lightweight. This guy was really something else and I have to hand it to him......great musculature and had that absolute grainy hard look.
Sooooo........I am OK with the ruling. It was fair.
Then, off to a nice chinese restaurant for dinner........THAT didnt go so well. First, I was thoroughly enjoying my General Tso's chicken, lo-mein, etc........THEN, I started to get real dizzy and lightheaded. Put my head between my knees for 5 min and it passed. Then, I made the mistake of trying to get up and every muscle in my lower body LOCKED into place and I instantly hit the floor in agony. My muscles were out of control. Cramping like insane......just unbearable pain. I was on the floor for a half hour. Dont worry, my wife had the presence of mind to snap a pic.......it'll be up later. Now that I got a banana in me and some heat on my legs, I seem to be OK.
Pics tomorrow!

Congrats bro.
Sorry about your meal being interrupted, but luckily your wife did the right thing, and captured the priceless moment. Scary, but funny.

Congrats bro. Probably all that sodium in the chinese food. Thats stuff kills people when they aren't on a contest prep.

....yeah....that's one thing you really should stay away from after the low sodium levels of a contest diet....chinese food....DANGER
but seriously....class win and nearly a pro card! That's awesome!

Sorry to hear about the post-contest episode. That majorly sucks. I'm glad you ended up feeling okay later.
I had taken a quick breather and come back during the middle of the lightweight's so I hadn't fully evaluated that guy. He looked a bit clumsy with the posing, so I wasn't sure how he would place, but he was shredded to the gills. I will say, based on the judging criteria, I think it was a fair ruling. He was leaner, but not as big. You were leaner but not as big as the heavyweight. Man...... that dude was a freaking monster! Probably the biggest natty I've ever seen in person (even bigger than the guy from your gym).
You had an excellent showing and I think you will be a real force at the next two shows! Congrats.

I slept through it...
Wha...? Huh...? Did somebody say McDonald's? Contest? Whoa... that came up fast! My wife and I have been so buried in baby poop that I didn't know what day it was. I just realized that yesterday was your first contest in the 2009 Sean Series. Nicely played Oak!!! Geez... way better than last year! Winning your weight class in the open and second for the overall run at a pro card!! Now that's my man! (no homo). Well, maybe a little. Glute gazer here too, J-Bo.
Dude, got those two-day-out pics you sent and just about fell outta my chair. Never seen you look like THAT before!! Looking forward to seeing what you looked like with full color. Must have been an impressive sight. I wouldn't take these next two contests away from you for the world... but I have to say that I am already eager to see what you'll build when you take two years off before the next one. It'll be mind blowing.
I'm off to resume excavating my gym out... Inspired!!!!

Thanks everyone.
This one was tough. There was some really tough competition there. After reviewing the pics, I am pretty happy with how I showed, but it was definately a step below my best. I would say that i messed up my peak. I looked better earlier in the week and I am talking with Tommy tonight to figure out how to patch up peak week so that I dont make the same mistake twice. My physique was like nothing I had every seen in the mirror earlier in the week.....hard, vascular, dry. After reviewing the pics, I looked decent for prejudging, but by the time the night show came, I was watery looking. The thing is that I dont think it was too many carbs because I woke up this morning (after the general tso's coma incident) totally loaded and more dry than last night.
Looking at the bigger picture, I completely blew away last year's physique. I talked to the judges (who actually saw me at last years Olympus) and they were impressed with how I brought up my legs and conditioning. So, this is good. Improvements.
Anyways, thats neither here nor there. If I came at my best, I still do not think I would have beaten the overall winner. He was more shredded. Hands down, even on my best day so far. From what I understand of the winner, he is an NGA pro already (prior to last night's WNBF card win) so he's got some experience under his belt, while im still figuring this stuff out........and if im still figuring out things like water and carb timing, I shouldnt be a pro yet.
Anyways, on with the pics!
I wanted to post a few from a couple days out because the pics from the show do not show the detail because of how far away the shots are. A lot of the close ups came out blurry (most all in-fact) which is very disappointing to me. Im hoping my mom's camera has some better images.
We'll start with a few from a couple days out.

This is for the overall.................the winner was the lightweight.

.
This first shot was about 5 min into the meal (notice my plate completely wiped already )and was purely in jest. I felt fine here:

.
Not so much here:
Id be curious to know what caused this. My water intake dropped from 2.5 gallons a day to 1 gallon on show day, so I think I was dehydrated......combine with the sodium deplete and then the massive chinese sodium bomb......MAN, this HUUUUUURT. It was pure agony. My hams locked up and then as soon as I went to pull them off (activating the quad), my quads locked up and both of them just stiffened up with gut wrenching pain.......then those little muscles that run along the shin bone. They locked up, followed by my lats. Ever had your lat muscles spasm? You dont want them to. Oh man. I literally laid here for 20 min before I could hobble to the car.......totally embarrassing my fam. Ah....theyre used to it.

Great pics Sean,..thanks for sharing!,.,.If I'm not mistaken,..that lightweight became pro at our first show last year at the Olympus! He competed at my April Rochester show as a pro but didn't doi too good!,..But yes,..he is one ripped mutha,..He used to journal in here, Contest Prep. I bet some of the other guys know who he is
Here this is his name: Joe Przybyla (overall winner – pro card)
