Relentless 2009-2011: Eric Helms forging a physique that leaves no doubt.

So you have some shows coming up in 2010. Good. Can't wait. You are going to blow some folks away. I just know it. The way that you get ready for a show (along with Eric, Brad and Franco Yaconelli) is unbelievable. Such focus and intensity. No wonder you guys do so well.
Thank you for the kind words, and don't worry, I won't cut the hair. After all, I come from a different era, hair was a badge of honor amongst the guys and like most older folks, I refuse to change just because fashion and time keep passing me by. I kind of look at it like "wow, the young folks of today look strange, with the shaved heads and/or short hair and baggy clothes and bizarre music, nothing wrong with me, everyone else is out of step" as I go along happily in my ignorance". I can give you an example: I am preparing to get my Masters in Food Science and I need some prep classes since my BS is in Chemistry and I am sitting in lecture and I see these young folks putting something on the instructors lecturn that kind of looks like a miniture tape recorder but it has no tape. I had to ask what it was. A digital recorder, wow, talk about being out of touch, I never knew they made these things. But you see, I just walk around happy in my ignorance. That is a long winded explanation for the hair. Believe me, I do get some second looks and whispered comments when I have my hair all down and big on top. But like I said, I think I look normal, others look strange.
Thank you BBQwizard. I would consider it an honor for me to shake YOUR hand. Good luck on the coming year.
Buckskin, remember, we were all new to the sport at one time. The beauty of this sport is that we learn as we go and someday someone will ask you the same question and you too can share what you have learned. You had your weight problems before but now you have fun in the gym and train with a goal in mind. Good for you. It is alot of fun.
Yes Alberto and Eric, I am one of those guys who stays shredded for the reasons in the previous post. Too all of us hear, have a great weekend and be kind

There was a time (seems like along time ago) where posing was actually taken into a bodybuilders total score. As bodybuilding grew in popularity the number of contestants entering each show continued to grow. To keep the shows within managable time frames the emphasis on posing (for scoring) was slowly faded out. I myself am a competitive bodybuilder and I believe in the two-pronged approach: Bring the best physique I can bring that day and to display the physique in the best manner I can.

he could probably loan everyone in this threads some mean calves and still have the best ever
They are still there to this day. Unlike other muscles calves don't waste away as easily. Saw him at the Olympia a few years ago, and like many retired IFBB pro just looked like a guy that worked out sometimes, nothing that hints ex Mr. Olympia....Until you looked at his calves! His jeans were damn near gonna rip opn from the knee down!

Thanks again.
No problem plenty of good folks hang around here.

No shows in 2010! I want to be next time I go up there! 2011!
Larry when I get to be around your age, I will do the same. Gonna be hard, but my 25 year old girlfriend will just have to put up with the fact that my car doesn't fly. :P

that's so awesome, He's on my list of people to meet!
So after today my end of year goals on the CG is to have the "Team NO CRYING" recod on the CG. 225 x 20 and 315 x 2. I have never hit 315 on a CG, that alone would be awesome.
Here are the current stadards.
Yes that was me he flicked off after.
Mind you Levi was pissed after AJ took the bar out of his hands when he still had one in the tank.
Tomorrow morning LEGS with Nick! Until we collapse, but then we just get back up and keep going. No crying, just doing. Doing work
Got legs in today, because I am going to go see spend Sunday in Sac. Eric and Barbara have a housewarming partay! Also a part of a little head start on Barb's birFday, looking forward to it.
Was also looking forward to legs with Nick today.

70 x 20 steps/4 Plates +10 x 10(2 sets)
70 x 20 steps/4 Plates x 10-->3 Plates x 15--->2 Plates x 26
Calve Raises(Leg Press)/Standing Leg Curls
3 Plates x Failure/75 x15 per leg
4 Plates x Failure/75 x 15(3 sets)
Nutrition
<110
<625
<220
Misc
Just another day!
Who said you can't have legs just cuz you are 6'13"
I think you look awesome right here. Do you consider yourself at your best right now? (lbm/bf %/strength)
I have been thicker up top, but 185-87 almost all the time now. I topped out at 192 last year, but I think by years end I will be around there, but way more solid. So anyday now better than the offseason I dieted down to get my procard.

so you're plannin' a pretty light leg day, at half intensity, kinda deload? hehe
This was a common thing during workouts, simply 90 minutes of trash talking. Took Eric a while to get used to it. You gotta try the butt busters muchacha! Love at first lift!

Somewhere between loose and cheatish, becaus I can go up to 105's with cheaty form. Rigt around there seems to be a good place. Although I love doing strict hammers to, more negative, hold at the top, and less forward elbow.
